Re: Re-buys in MTTs

Im playing in one of these on Friday

£10 rebuy for 90minutes.

What stack size would you say is it worth adding on? (presuming im even in after the 90minute period!)

You start with 1000 chips and I believe the blinds after the add on time go up to 150/300.

I was thinking 3K or less its a no brainer, go ahead and add on. But what about more? Is there really any point adding on if ive got 5K+?

Re: Re-buys in MTTs

I'd always add on no matter what stack size you have. Stack size is an important thing in NL so every chip counts. Remeber if you have 5k and get another 1k add on, that's an increase of 20% !
You'll soon see the joys of 10 quid turnovers, it's a lot of bollox I'm telling you.

Re: Re-buys in MTTs

The only re-buys with value are satellites for bigger freeze out tourneys. Often in these tight play until the rebuy is over may see you short stacked but all the people who re buy are just adding plenty of extra qualifying places for the next round. It is then possible to play sensibly to get one of the qualifying seats. Too many people play these trying to win rather than just to qualify which after all pays the same.

As an example I played on once where the two short stacks were on my table and they made five re buys between them during the interval. They then proceeded to get knocked out on the next two hands. What they had in effect done was to add an extra half seat to the prize pool.

Re: Re-buys in MTTs

Rebuys are awesome. Not only are they full of idiots, they're full of idiots who keep rebuying. Most of them have 0 chance of actually winning the thing, they're just putting extra chips in play, and therefore more money in the prize pool.
