Confederations Cup 25th: Germany Vs Brasil
The U20 Brasilians went through, but not in normal time, and so another bet hit the dust.
I think they were unlucky not to have had that penalty appeal, but overall it may be seen as a fair reflection of the teams' efforts. Here we have the BIG boys. It's going to be a cracker of a game, I believe. So much history between them , and with Klinsmann bringing into the squad his apparoach and attitude , we should see some excellent attacking football. Brasil lost to Mexico, but it wasn't as though it was a wholesale defeat: one goal can often say a lot about a game, but for me it was done with one eye on the next game. Mexico did well with their possession, and when a S. American side doesn't get the ball it pretty much puts them out the game. That may seem an obvious comment , but there many teams who can still compete even if they don't have the majority of the possession. (see Germany!) Brasil need the ball to make the team flow, to build the confidence, to embarass the opponent with their little showstopping flicks and volleys. Germany will have to do what Mexico did and try to keep the ball as much as possible, but more importantly, make it count when they do have it. Brasil will no doubt put out their best side. Some experimenting with the selections has been done by their coach, but he has made it clear that for this game it will be the best he can offer: no excuses. Germany have one big absence : defender Schweinsteiger. He has played a big part in their team's shape and performance. At such a crucial point of the tournament, and at the highest level yet met, this surely has to be a negative. The German's have shown that they have strength in all areas of their game. Klinsmann has an obviously more attacking view in his tactics, but I haven't seen him conpromise the defensive aspect to attain this. As to goalscoring Germany are the better side , but of course their defence has been breached on many occasions, as well. The german midfield has looked particularly strong. This is providing the balance for the def and attck. Distribution has been intelligent and productive. The game against Argentina was evidence of what a side can do even without possession: Germany had only 38% , but scored twice, and held out for a draw. The same can be acheived here, but it may be a bit harder as they will be facing a full strength Brasil side, which has also had the time to evaluate the performance against Argentina: this is very important point in gauging the relative merits. Both sides have great players; both sides can beat any team on their day; both have tactically astute managers, but one of them has the greater experience at this level and in this situation: Brasil's Carlos Alberto Parreira. It is a very evenly matched game, and it can go either way..maybe to extra time like the U20's , but once again I'm going for the win in 90mins on Brasil. They have the overall greater talents in their team. If they choose to play as they can then this is all over. Germany have shown the greater consistency in their form, but for me there is not enough dominance of the ball in play...regardless of how well they use it when they do have it. This is a match that will turn on the individual performances of Brasilians, as opposed to the team performance of Germany, I think. |

Re: Confederations Cup 25th: Germany Vs Brasil
Hi Mickey,
thank you for this. I do the best I can! The latest news from germany: Quote:
So he want to play "brasilian" to win against germany without ronaldo and roberto carlos.... But he has respect for Sebastian Schweinsteiger, too. I think the focus must be on Lukas Podolski from cologne? He´s the new generation of german offense. A lot of european clubs have offer cologne many million euros for him, but he said that he is to young to go to London, Mailand and so on.... By the way, the two players are best friends! The match will be in this stadion in bavaria. I hope the german will make the sensation and win against the worldcupwinner from 2002!That would be a revanche for the 3-1 in south corea and japan ... Game 2: Mexico - Argentina For me it will be only one winner, the gauchos. There have the better performances at the Con Cup. The last game from Mexio against greece was really bad! compendium: -the german wins in extra/over time -the gauchos wins against the mexican, easily My Final: Germany vs Argentina first game was 2-2, in the final germany wins 3-2 ... sorry I´m in dreaming Fair Play |

Re: Confederations Cup 25th: Germany Vs Brasil
Welcome thegerman
I agree with this game going either way. I think its all going to depend though on how the German defence cope with the Brazilians. They have been pretty poor this tournament - and playing Hitzelsperger left back is never going to do you any favours. The Germans attacking are a lot better than people give them credit for. Podolski is going to be a top player down the years - still learning and everything. Michael Ballack is the main cog for them - when hes playing well and making them attacking run he helps the strikers out very well. His only problem is his enthusiasm - sometimes he is a lazy so and so and this really angers the German press. Ive been reading they dont feel he is a good captain and is a bit too arrogant at times. I watched the Tunisia game and they make Germany look very ordinary at times and deserved something from the game. The scoreline flattered the Germans. As for Brazil - you know what your going to get with them. Its all about if they can take their chances they create then they will beat anyone. Against Greece they were fantastic - but they were caught out by the Mexicans. Didnt have the chance to see the Japan game, anyone see it? Hmmm - im just rambling here. Think i will shut up now. But i do fancy the draw and it to go to extra or pens. If so then i would fancy the Germans to nick it. |

Re: Confederations Cup 25th: Germany Vs Brasil
This really is a 50-50 game, with very little to base a clear favouritism on.
If there is to be an edge for Brasil then I think it will stem from the younger profile of the German side. Opening against Australia was a good way to blow the nerves out the window...but they were given the opportunities that a more experienced and skillful side wouldn't have. With Tunisia it took an age for them to make the breakthrough, and when they did, the Africans almost collapsed en masse. Still, 3 goals in such a short space of time is good going. Argentina was closer to the reality of Brasil. 38% possession and 2 goals..again that's a good result, but when you look at the overall stats..it just shouldn't have happened. Facing a Brasilian side that may or may not be 'mentally fatigued' is what most players want at the International level. It doesn't matter who you are...it's going to be a factor when you're 20 yrs old and playing in front of the 'Kaiser' ( Franz B) and an expectant home support. That's an edge. Slightly blunt, possibly, but still good for one last shave!! |

Re: Confederations Cup 25th: Germany Vs Brasil
1-1 at the 25. minute! That will be a great night in nürnberg, I´m sure.
@eddy When you want you can speak to me in german,no problem. I would learn this really. So I used a contact from ebay, a woman who had bought shoes from my girlfriend. I ask her if we can have an email-friendship, so I write not always here in english... I must say sorry, too. Schweinsteiger is not on the match,he have an yellow card ban (?). Klinsmann, the german coach have this system at the firsttime in his coaching carrier. A 3-5-2. The left defender Schneider is a midfieldplayer... So he have to close the left midfield for caca. And the brasil habe not calculated this,I think. |

fantastic! In the first part of the game 4 goals thereof 2 penalties.
A open match and good to see it,.. no tatical match with a big wall in the defence and careful offense... so must be a semifinal! ![]() |
