World Youth Championships 21st june
China (U20) vs Germany (20)
I'm currently living in China so I have a genuine interest in this one as it makes for a NORMAL evening in the local bars, instead of the thumping 'techno' tunes wiping out all chance of a conversation....even with yourself! Now, the demise of the Swiss team has been a headline story, but even bigger shoud be the unstoppable force that is China. Surprising many (but not me!!) this talented young squad are worth keeping on the right side of till the bitter end. A bit like Greece in the Euro' last year, they have been constantly underestimated, and as long as that happens we will continue to get decent prices. This match is just another example: Jokerbets offer 3.10, but more accessible is Pinnacle with their odds of 3.00. Compare this to Germany's best price of 2.50 with Admiral ( 2.60 with SNAI ??) Again we are witnessing 'reputation and presumption' over 'form and facts'. China, along with Colombia, Spain and Holland, topped their table with a 100% record. They have shown tremendous poise and maturity throughout the matches and , most importantly, an ability to bang in the goals. Key note here...9 goals, 9 different scorers. Germany made it thru as one of the best 3rd places sides. Not exactly top drawer performances in any of their games, plus they have been found wanting in front of goal. Admittedly they have possibly had the hardest group, but still , it's just not the kind of form that you would price up as favourite against a side which has done all it's been asked of.. and more. Players to watch: China: main man is their centreback Feng Xiaoting. He's a big lad, quick footed for a defender and not shy of having a run at goals. He has been a standout influence on all the players. In midfield look out for Lu lin. He's the smallest in the side but has huge amounts of speed and a very quick mind coupled with an even quicker defence splitting pass. Supplier of killer crosses. Up front a lot of the press thought that Manyoo's latest Asian 'babe' Dong Fangzhou would be a regular start , but it's testament to the performance of Gao Lin that he has only played a marginal role. This is a squad of big lads. Fit, fast and talented , with a very clear tactical approach , well worked in every game. Don't think this is a land of small skinny types, chasing after a 'rice ball'. Those days are over when it comes to sport. Fitness levels are immense and they have some brilliant coaches recruited from all over the world to help in all aspects of their game. This country is going to be a source of top level sports people in all areas for years to come. Good on the ground, good in the air and with a seriously compact defence, it will take a good side to get the better of them Their draw isn't the best. After this match they play either Brasil or Syria. Then if they get past them , it's Spain/Argentina/Colombia or Turkey. Not easy! But, back to the game in hand....great odds to win here: 3.00 with Pinnacle I also like the 2.25 from Stan James for China to score first. Germany have been so poor in this department that I can see China having a real charge at them from the off. In the other groups Spain and Holland have impressed more than Colombia , even though the S.Americans have yet to concede , but they haven't really had to play against a decent side. Not a lot to say about the German squad, really. Conisdering the top level Bundesliga clubs they play for it's a real surprise how poorly they are peforming. Their natural physical attributes ( usually some sort of advantage in International games) will be more than matched by the China players, and although they appear to be a sound defensively minded side, I don't see them keeping a clean sheet in this one. I'll stick with the China squad until they get knocked out. |

Thanks Kiko. Will do.
China to win the Championship @ 30.00 with unibet...that's going to look big if they do the business tomorrow. In fact it looks big now! Tenner? Yes please! Disclaimer: All bets can get shafted, leaving you looking like a right twat. Bet with other people's money. Don't come bitching to me if it goes tits up. |

Re: Germany U20 v China U20 June 21
Just had a little look up and my initial worry is the standards of the groups to qualify to get here. Will this have an effect? - As you said Germany had a tough group, while China had Korea etc. Is the standard of teams even throughout the cintinents?
I will put up odds for the tournament shortly. Will go for China outright, hoping they win then manage to lay them off. Going to go with a little bit on the hosts as well as they normally do well. Anyone know if the games are being broadcast on British TV? |

Re: Germany U20 v China U20 June 21
Yep, great post Eddy. I wouldn't have gave this game a 2nd glance and if asked for a winner I would have no doubt said "Germany" simply because they are Germany and China are China. Pinnacles 3.00 is very tempting although the Germans could be laid about 2.50 on Betfair to get the draw on your side.

Re: Germany U20 v China U20 June 21
Nice bit of digging there Mickey.
Looks like its almost an evenly matched game, if not advantage China, so the 3.00 at Pinnacle has to be taken. and cheers for the info Eddy/Mickey |
