Re: Confederation Cup Matches 18/19th June
The more i see it the more i am liking the look of Greece to overcome Japan. Reading about fall outs between Japans 2 midfielders Nakata and the other one who's name eludes me. Nakata is being moaned about for being too attack minded when he was under orders to play in the sitting role so all isnt well in the camp.
Greece usually have an exceptional defence and were only undone by Brazils quality and the calamity antics of their own keeper. Their main threat is usually from set pieces and this is where the game will be won as Japan's coach has been bemoaning the lack of height that exists(or doesnt exist) in their side. [quote]Greece striker Angelos Charisteas thrives on the long ball and competes strongly in the air to win knock-downs for the supporting midfield players. And his headed goals against France and then Portugal in the UEFA EURO 2004 final demonstrated the aerial threat he poses. Standing at 1.92m tall, Charisteas towers above the 1.78m Makoto Tanaka, who was the tallest Japanese defender on display against Mexico. The Ajax striker is usually partnered by Zisis Vryzas, who clocks in at 1.82m. To make matters worse for the Japanese defence, Greece also score a good number of goals from set-pieces, throwing their even taller central defenders forward at corners and free-kicks to cause havoc with their height and strength. This problem is highlighted below. Quote:
Centre back Kapsis is still struggling with injury while Zagorakis is still in Italy after being relegated with Bologna. He was suspended for the first 2 games anyways so wouldnt have figured either way. No head to heads between these sides before - Going to have a stab with the 2.14 on offer with Betfair. |

Re: Confederation Cup Matches 18/19th June
Not quite sure what went wrong with Greece - havent seen the game or read match reports yet.
Bizarre happenings in Brazil game there - player for Mexico having to take a penalty, scores - then is ordered to take it again which he misses. Referee orders it to be retaking and this time is saved by Dida. Unbelievable! Whats with all the strange happenings happening today in sports. :think |

Was thinking that - but its the kind of stuff that makes it so watchable(not that the GP is watchable but you know what I mean.)Dida fooled Borgetti on the penalty - must have noticed Borgetti keeping his head down all the way through his penalties, and the keeper was just about marking his right hand post as Borgetti took the penalty - straight to that corner :pat Once simple look up and he could have rolled it to Dida's left. Great stuff! ![]() |

Re: Confederation Cup Matches 18/19th June
Brazil defence looks a bit suspect, especially down the flanks, but isnt that always the case.
Might try and get matched at over 3.2 for a small punt on the 1-1. I get the feeling that if Brazil nick a goal both teams might call it a day there, happy enough that that will see both in great positions in the group. |

Matched for 0.5pts worth at 3.20 on Betfair for the 1-1. Brazil looking quite dangerous just now.

Re: Confederation Cup Matches 18/19th June
Unlucky Komp, plenty goalmouth action all through the game, missed penalty and disallowed goals too.
All credit to Mexico...you could see why they're unbeaten in 19, defending that lead quite well. They will surely be there or thereabouts come the end of the tournament. |

Yeah true - you've gotta hold your hands up when your bet loses and its been deserved. Thought they were going to nick another one towards the end. They will be there or there abouts - maybe worth a little dabble outright, although i dont think they will win it.
