Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

Not much chat re Internationals tonight. Can't say I can add much but there are a couple of previews available.

I'm going to Scotland game tonight. Taking my son to his first Scotland game so I'm hoping for an improvement on Friday's game.

I like your double Grim but am wary of 1/3 shots.

FIXED ODDS 2pts no goalscorer in Switzerland v England at 9/1 (Sky Bet).Swiss a tough unit to crack and question marks over depleted England.1pt Ireland 3-0 at 11/2 (totesport, Victor Chandler), 1pt Ireland 4-0 at 11/2 (general).A win to nil for Ireland beckons and Andorra can keep it down below five.1pt Scotland 1-0 at 10/1 (Ladbrokes) and 1pt Scotland 2-0 at 11/2 (Betfred). It might not be so easy for Scotland who dominated without scoring last time.

If you cast your mind back to February 6 2008 you might remember that England beat Switzerland 2-1 at Wembley in Fabio Capello's first game in charge.

The Italian will be hoping for a repeat result on Tuesday night but since then Ottmar Hitzfeld has taken over the Swiss side and he has made them an incredibly hard team to beat.

Their last seven results have been 0-1, 1-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 1-0 and 0-0 and that third scoreline was the famous 1-0 win over Spain at the World Cup in South Africa.

Of course, the Spaniards went on to lift the trophy so Switzerland are clearly no mugs and it is somewhat surprising to see them chalked up at 7/2.

England, I'm sure you all know, come into this on the back of wins over Hungary and Bulgaria at Wembley, the latter a 4-0 thumping in the first Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.

So for England and Capello it looks like it's business as usual as far as qualifying for major tournaments are concerned.

Because for all that they were bitterly disappointing at the main event in South Africa, the process of getting there was mightily easy.

Nine wins out of 10 ensured a group win, the only loss coming in the Ukraine when they were already guaranteed qualification.

When you consider that record, perhaps the shade of odds-on about the Three Lions appeals.

But it's never that simple with England and injuries to John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Dawson means they are depleted at the back.

They coped without Frank Lampard and Peter Crouch in the goal-getting department against Bulgaria thanks to Jermain Defoe's hat-trick but Wayne Rooney was superb without scoring and you do wonder how much Sunday's allegations in the papers will affect him - if indeed he even plays.

There's a huge question mark there now and I do think that all things considered England will be happy to get through this game with a point.

A draw at home against England would also be an acceptable start for Switzerland and the stalemate is a major player at an attractive 5/2.

However, we'll go a step further and suggest having a play on no goalscorer with Sky Bet who dangle 9/1.

This looks a more-than-fair price considering England's talisman might not be fully focused on the task in hand and Switzerland are a tough team to break down in any case.

Under 2.5 goals looks a solid shout but the price on that one is a prohibitive 8/11 so we'll happily chance there being no goals at all given the circumstances.

Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland came up against a stubborn defence in Armenia but Keith Fahey eventually made the breakthrough to earn a 1-0 win.

The Irish shouldn't have too many problems breaking through Andorra's limited resistance in the first competitive game at the Aviva Stadium and we expect three easy points for the home side.

Andorra haven't scored since they lost 3-1 to Kazakhstan last September and it would be a huge shock if they find the net against the Republic.

Therefore, we recommend a couple of 'win to nil' punts and we'll plump for 3-0 and 4-0 to the home side.

Some punters will be tempted to go bigger but to their credit Andorra did keep it down to 2-0 at home to Russia on Friday.

However, away from home they might not be so tight so we'll trust Trapattoni's men to squeeze one or two more through them on Tuesday.

Both 3-0 and 4-0 correct scores are 11/2 and we'll have limited stakes on each.

A correct-score punt might also be the way to go as Scotland take on Liechtenstein at Hampden Park.

Spain beat Liechtenstein 4-0 away on Friday, though Scotland might not find it so easy even though they are playing on their own patch.

A 0-0 draw in Lithuania highlighted Scotland's difficulty in finding the net despite their overall dominance which really should have resulted in three points.

They should get them a against Liechtenstein, but perhaps it won't be as easy as the bookies expect.

Scotland assistant manager Peter Houston spoke on Sunday of how the win is more important than a goal avalanche and with Liechtenstein on a damage limitation exercise the hosts will have to be patient.

Ladbrokes offer a standout 10/1 on the 1-0 home win and we'll have a little play on that while backing the 2-0 victory at 11/2 as well.

Mr Fixit is liking a big score in the Scotland game. Hope he's right!

Mr Fixit reckons Scotland will lead the goals charge in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. | Mr Fixit's Tips

MR FIXIT’S EURO 2012 TIPS

YOU’D better read this sitting down. For what I’m about to say may border on madness.
Tonight Scotland will win a game of football – and they could do it quite comfortably. That may sound over-confident on the back of a dire 0-0 draw in Lithuania. But surely little Liechenstein will be added to the name of San Marino and the Faroes (most times) as sides the Scots can beat without making their fans come out in a cold sweat.
Boss Craig Levein has to be positive and look for a convincing victory and although Spain only beat them 4-0 away last Friday a 3-0 or 4-0 Scotland success is on the cards. Scotland are biggest 1-10 with firms such as 888Sport, Blue Square and Stan James with Liechtenstein 33-1 at Skybet and the draw 8-1 with Bodog.
So for value for money you have to look at the specials and assuming a Scotland romp there are some cracking offers, especially from Paddy Power.
The Irish firm will be swamped with bets on Scotland minus two at 10-11 and possibly even minus three at 21-10. Paddy Power also go 4-11 we keep a clean sheet and 5-6 Scotland win both halves.
Four or more goals in the match returns 5-4 at Chandler and 4-0 is a biggest 7-1 with Blue Square and 888Sport.
Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd are set to be paired up front with James McFadden also handed a starting role. Miller should have netted in Kaunas and I’ll be backing him at 5-2 with Paddy Power and Betfred to bag the opener.
Boyd is 3-1 with Paddy Power and 888Sport with Faddy 5-1 at Paddy Power and Skybet. Stephen McManus and Davie Weir are also worth an each-way look with the Scots hoping to be dangerous at set-pieces. Both are 25-1 with Betfred.
Miller is 11-4 with Totesport to score two or more and Boyd 10-3 at Blue Square. For a hat-trick it’s 12-1 Miller at Blue Square with Boyd 14-1 at Chandler.
Czech Republic face Lithuania at home in the other Group I clash and should see off shots-shy opponents who had nothing to offer against Scotland. They are a best 3-10 with Bodog and Paddy Power.
Elsewhere, England were impressive winners against Bulgaria on Friday. Fabio Capello’s men should follow up with a win in Switzerland but are a biggest 9-10 with Stan James. The Swiss, who beat Spain at the World Cup, have proved tricky opponents for some of the better sides and if the Wayne Rooney sex scandal affects English spirit it could be worth looking at the draw.
Republic of Ireland are a biggest 1-33 with Stan James to beat Andorra at home so instead consider Robbie Keane at 9-4 with Betfred to break the deadlock.
Russia at home to Slovakia, Denmark at home to Iceland and Croatia at home Greece look decent homes.
Norway could surprise Portugal, in disarray after a 4-4 home draw with Cyprus and without their manager, while Bosnia, 8-5 with William Hill, will be well supported at home to weakened France.

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

I like Belgium here at 3/1 at Turkey, they have a few good players do Belgium including the next big thing to come out of Belgium since Poirot namely Romelu Lukaku, he top scored in belgium at the tender age of 16.
Turkey beat neighbours Boratstan 3-0 but this is a lot harder

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

9/2 with Coral Keem - I looked at that myself , for a few reasons. Namely , though Turkey won 3-0 @ Kazhakstan at the weekend, apparently the Kazaks were truly woeful and Hiddink enraged the turkish fans by playing 7 players who werent even playing for their own clubs regularly. They got away with that one, but may not tonight, as they go with the same team.

Belgium played Germany, and though saying played them off the park is a bit extreme, they were at least the equal of ze germans, and lost to a very flukey goal apparently 0-1 (I havent seen it myself). They have a nice mixture of old heads and a good few promising youngsters and a team who could go places in the near future, or at the very least take a few scalps.

The only thing that put me off was Belgiums away form :

Finland 1-0 Belgium
Estonia 2-0 Belgium
Armenia 2-1 Belgium
Spain 5-0 Belgium
Czech Rep 3-1 Belgium
Japan 4-0 Belgium
Chile 1-1 Belgium
Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 Belgium
Luxembourg 1-1 Belgium
Turkey 1-1 Belgium
Germany 2-0 Belgium
Italy 3-1 Belgium

I was also tempted with the `both teams to score` @ 6/5 with Hills for the game - but decided to stick to my double instead

Good luck if you play

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

Bosnia - France

Bosnie @ 2.50 (home win)

France had a dramatic start against Belarus last Friday (0-1 defeat).
Almost all the offensive players are injured, and many players still suspended because of the World Cup problems.
France scored only 1 goal in the last 4 official matches, it was against South Africa. There is a real offsenive problem.

Bosnia had an easy win against Luxembourg, almost a training match. At home, with the 30.000 croud, and skilled players as Dzeko, Misimovic and Ibisevic... the France defense will suffer.

Bosnia should win, Handicap probably, Dzeko+Pjanic (Pjanic on free kick) scorers...

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

Czech republic - Lithuania

First match of the czech national team in this qualification.

Probable line-up would be

Čech - Pospěch, Hubník, Rajnoch, Kadlec - Hübschman - Plašil, Rosický, Polák - Baroš, Fenin.

After some time I like our team, ok I would rather see some other attacker next to Baros than Fenin, but deffense and midfield looks ok. Czech team scored 8 times last two friendly games - USA, Latvia. They will surely try to win their first game mainly against opponent like this. Game will be played in Olomouc where is usualy great atmosphere on nation team games and national team always score a lot of goals here. I don´t know much about Lithuanian team. So I will rather skip some pre-match bet and wait for live, I expect that our team would be a little bit nervous in the first half, just like in the game against Latvia, so I waill wait for -1 spread.

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

Just seen that goal Yorkie - it was a flukey goal in the fact that it was a bad Belgium mistake which meant Germany got the chance to score an easy goal. But yeah, I guess it was a Belgium error also .

Having watched those highlights id be tempted by both teams to score tonight in turkey @ 6/5

Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying 7 Sep

I've got a stupid amount on Sweden to keep a clean sheet against the mighty San Marino tonight ..Hill's put it up at a crazy 1.44 on Sunday and I just kept pumping money on it, bearing in mind San Marino haven't scored away for 17 matches! Price dropped to 1.04 by Monday, hoping they pay out..

Also on a bit of a treble on bet365 Sweden to keep clean sheet+Albania+Andorra 4.5AH comes out at 2.16..nothing risky for me (hopefully) but the possibility of good returns..

If I'm never seen again its because San Marino scored.
