Re: Euro 2012 qualifying 2-3rd Sep
Montenegro vs Wales
Wales price looks big to my biased opinion. Wales played in a friendly in Montenegro last year and lost 2-1 , they were taken by surprise on that day and underestimated the opposition. They have a few missing from the squad but these are either long term injuries or some of the "lesser" players in Danny Gabbidon, Darcy Blake, Brian Stock and Andrew Crofts . Toshack’s big hitters Craig Bellamy, Gareth Bale and James Collins have travelled to Montenegro.Tosh has mentioned that he may use Millwall's Morison up front , Morison has hit four goals for Millwall's in five games and comes into the international week full of confidence.Toshack is looking at letting Morison take the central role to allow Bellamy and Bale to attack from the flanks in Podgorica. If Wales are going to have a remote chance of qualifying they must take points from the 5th seed in this group that contains England , Switzerland and Bulgaria. This match is being shown at S4C at 6:30 on Friday. Wales @ 4.5 with bet365 for me Last edited by traeth : 01-09-2010 at 17:55 Reason: edit , sorry for my lack of knowledge on Montenegro |

Agree with this Traeth, posted this elsewhere a couple of days ago when I couldn't see the relevant thread on here.. Wales look quite big away to Montenegro, Wales played there quite recently in a friendly (well, a year ago not so long in International terms) and I saw an interesting article with Ashley Williams saying it was the toughest international he had played in and that they had underestimated Montenegro somewhat, with particuarly the noise in the stadium and the heat proving very difficult to deal with..but said this would not happen again. They lost that game 2-1. Wales have had a young side for a while but now even the younger players now have 20+ caps and they should be starting to emerge as a useful side imo and qualification for the finals has to be the realistic objective..not having Ramsey available at the moment is a blow as he was certainly a player with the most promise Wales has had since Giggs, be he will though be available for a majority of the campaign..Bellamy went off heavily strapped up (calf) on Sat, but will travel and they are hopeful he can play..Steve Morison (Millwall) looks likely to make his debut up front with Bellamy and Bale playing off him, will represent a pretty impressive rise from non-league to International football in 18 months! Will also offer Wales something different as he is more of a target man and can bring others into the game unlike someone like Earnshaw who has played there previously, certainly important to be able to keep the ball in a fixture away from home, he has 4 in 5 for Millwall but this is obviously a big step-up.. Wales always have a few withdrawals but they don't look too bad this time around, have to wait until a bit later in the week though before we know for sure..Bale is certainly one of the best left sided players in the world at the moment and is in brilliant form for Spurs.. Montenegro I know little about and it would be good to get any analysis of them from someone who knows the side, from their results over the last couple of years though they are not really beating anyone by more than one goal at home and I think Wales look overpriced at 4.5..I wouldn't take a straight Wales win but +0.5AH at evens is available at a few bookies and looks like a good price as I wouldn't be surprised to see Wales get a draw in this one.. |

Re: Euro 2012 qualifying 2-3rd Sep
Taken from a well renowned tipping site:
Looking elsewhere, it is Wales' trip to Montenegro on which we are going to focus. Don't be fooled by the hosts coming out of the bottom pot of seeds in the draw. Wales' David Edwards was spot on this week when he explained: ''They are the bottom-seeded team but there is no way they should be. It is just because they are a new nation." Yes, Montenegro used to be part of Yugoslavia and even following that country's break up in the 1990s, they were playing alongside Serbia until just three years ago. In their early history as an independent team, the captial Podgorica has already proven a tough place to visit - only Italy won here during World Cup qualifying, with the Republic of Ireland failing to beat them here or in Dublin. In addition, Northern Ireland were beaten here in a friendly 2-0 only last month, while Wales themselves went down 2-1 in August 2009. Welsh away wins against decent sides have been thin on the ground of late. Critics will point out that they have won in Liechtenstein and Azerbaijan fairly recently but neither of those sides is ranked as high as Montenegro, whose star man on Friday is likely to be Roma striker Mirko Vucinic. |

With bet365 yorkie..I screwed up a bit and bet both 'to win to nil' when you can actually bet 'cleen sheet - yes' (in other words cover the possibility of 0-0) at the same price, but I'm not too worried to be honest. |

Re: Euro 2012 qualifying 2-3rd Sep
not that we are going to qualify anyhow but if Scotland don't win tomorrow night then I think their campaign is over
spain and czech republic will win over their so Scotland must get a result - i was actually surprised to see 9/5 available because I thought 6/4 the pair would be a decent bet |

Re: Euro 2012 qualifying 2-3rd Sep
France still have some decent players as they have some of the best young footballers in Europe but I still wouldn't touch them at those odds.
I'm also tempted by that price on Wales , especially now Bellamy is back and the form Gareth Bale is in, I don't know who's up front for Wales but with those two on either flank he should get plenty of chances, not forgetting both those players have a great eye for goal. Hastys probbaly right in suggesting taking Wales @ +0.5 on the AH at evens, but at around 4.5's for a Welsh win that looks very tempting to me , I'll sleep on it but will probably have a wee wager on it. |

Re: Euro 2012 qualifying 2-3rd Sep
No takers for Slovenia? World Cup qualifiers who got to South Africa by beating NI 2-0 in this respective game 2 years ago , admittedly Slovenia never really impressed in the WC but they did create chances and gave the USA and England for that matter a run for their money, also N Ireland are on a poor run of form lately having won no games in 2010 and I don't recall them being a decent 'away' side.
Come to think of it its not easy for any side to play in the Eastern European counties as they are very patriotic in terms of players and fans who always get behind their side. Slovenia put in some decent performances in there qualification to the world cup, if they can pick up and improve from where they left of they should do well. I'm willing to take a chance on Slovenia at evens as NI will have their work cut out here . |
