I'm going to try and take in the Colombia v Holland match so may as well have a wee interest bet on the Dutch @ evs

Colombia arrive in Nigeria after struggling through the South American qualifying competition in Chile. After a pair of lacklustre draws, they only just snuck into the fourth and final slot from the continent. Their woes are compounded by the fact that they have lost their top player, striker Edwin Cardona, on the eve of these world finals. Although coach Ramiro Viafara is confident his physical and organised team are better than they showed in the qualifiers, their task is a heady one up against the seasoned Oranje.

The Dutch, for their part, were very nearly crowned European champions back in Germany earlier this year, losing out 2-1 in the final against the hosts. Coach Albert Stuivenberg has in his side an outstanding goalkeeper in Patrick ter Mate and a hot-hand striker in the form of Feyenoord's Luc Castaignos. The Netherlands finished third at Peru 2005 - their first U-17 finals - and they are here in west Africa with arguably an even more coherent side. A full three points in the opener will be crucial for the Lowlanders if they entertain real hopes of winning their first world crown at any age level.

Couple of minutes until HT and still 0-0. Holland pretty much dominating possession without managing to create much. Colombia with lots of guys behind the ball and breaking at pace and looking quite dangerous to be honest. Holland will need to raise their game in the 2nd half or might slip up here.

Ooooh. Colombia almost took the lead at the end there. Dutch defender on the line, blocks it. Colombia look to have more 'oomph' about them. They're quick and pretty skillful.

Colombia took the lead, 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Holland continue to play very sloooooow and stroke it about defence and don't really look interested. And they don't look capable of breaking this defence down while Colombia always loook dangerous when they break.

Interested to see Colombia's odds for their next game as they look a good outfit.

edit: Holland scored a penalty not long after I posted there although my stream is on and off, I have no idea what's happening now. It came back on there and I saw Colombia celebrating another goal so it's 2-1 now.

Analyze: In first round,young Japanese lost to South American champions Brazil in the last minute of injury time 3-2. They created many of opportunities and I was pleasantly surprised with their play. Today, they have do or die game and if they play like against Brazilian I believe that they will be able to achieve a good result. Swiss beat Mexico by 2-0 but the result is not realistic, as they scored from freekick(from 25-30m) and second was big mistake from Mexican goalkeeper which he himself gave the goal. Mexicans had the ball most of the possession and created some nice chance but ball just did not want into a goal. Swiss are missing an important Midfielder(Buff), who was sent off against Mexico Since they are young players stake is smalle.

I'm with you all the way on Japan, Betarda. I've mentioned before that they play the same style at all levels with some great passing and movement and when they click can pretty much match anyone. All they ever lack is a bit of aggression.

I didn't see the Brazil game but from what I read they played very well. I'm happy to chance Japan @ 2.90 bet365

Here's the report of their 3-2 defeat to Brazil:

Brazil opened their campaign at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009 with a thrilling last-minute 3-2 win despite an impressive showing from an unlucky Japan in Lagos. The Japanese appeared set to share the points with an equaliser six minutes from time only for the Asian representatives to suffer the heartbreak of an own-goal from goalkeeper Jun Kamita four minutes into stoppage time. The Asians showed they will provide more than nuisance value at the tournament with a skilful display throughout.

A sizable and noisy crowd came out to see the match, despite it being in direct conlfict with Nigeria's opening fixture being played in Abuja. Brazil soon showed their abilities going forward with Neymar and, in particular, Coutinho looking lively. The three-time champions nearly opened the scoring with Romario Leiria heading against the crossbar in just the fourth minute.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half courtesy of a remarkable long-range shot from left-back Guilherme in a moment reminiscent of the iconic Roberto Carlos. The Brazilians' joy didn't last long, though, with Yoshiaki Takagi driving home a sumptuous strike from outside the penalty area.

The second half was a more open affair with exciting forward Neymar scoring a goal of rare quality at the midway point when he dummied the goalkeeper, then ran around the custodian to finish into an empty net. Japan maintained their composure, however, and after a defensive error they equalised through the speed and neat finish of Kenyu Sugimoto. The Asians were eventually denied a deserved share of the points as Kamita erred in failing to hold a free-kick from the middle of the park, spilling it over the line.

Just reading up on Brazil v Mexico and the Mexicans might have slight selection worries:

Coach Jose Luis Gonzalez China is sweating over the fitness of several members of his squad and will definitely be without forward Martin Ponce, who is suspended after receiving a red card against the Swiss.

Hmmm. Brazil @ 1.60 with expekt I see. They won't be settling for a draw will they?

Should have been two - Swiss can't cope with the Japanese movement. They really are lovely to watch. Definite worry about the Japan defence though from set pieces. And they like to play it out even when there's pressure. Exciting stuff though.

Noooooo. Japan slice them open again - one on one with the keeper and he puts it right into the goalie's body. What a chance.

GOOOOOALL!!!!! Japan 2 up and playing some sublime football. They're opening the Swiss up at will. Marvellous stuff. Now don't blow it.

Was just away to say the fact Japan aren't at least 4 up is a worry such has been their dominance and the bloody Swiss break up field and score with a couple of minutes till HT. They've run the Swiss ragged though and look well capable of scoring again.

And then the Swiss hit the bar on 45mins Japan really looking a bit gay at the back unfortunately.

Japan lead 1-2 at HT and to be honest, they should have been out of sight. Ref stopped the game for a water break after 35mins which gives you an idea of the conditions (and might explain why the Dutch struggled so badly against Colombia). If Japan blow this now it'll be bloody horrible but I can't see the Swiss keeping them to 2 goals.

edit: Gay Japan defending again though and it's 2-2 - they've gone to pieces.

And now 3-2 - it's an absolutely incredible collapse. From complete dominance to..... whatever this is. Japan is dead to me. I have no Japan!

And to make matters worse, the wind is so strong, it's blown over the Japanese dugout ffs.

Japan have been creeping back into it but their finishing is poor here. 18 efforts on goal I think was the last count.

Swiss wrap it up from a corner. 4-2 and no way back now so....... I don't think I can be arsed watching another game to be honest as I'm struggling with these shitty streams (no FIFA streams for UK)

Finishes 4-3 looking like - about 30 seconds left. Japan bang in another lovely goal. Still can't take in how they collapsed soon as the Swiss applied some pressure. Frightened little mice they are.
