World Cup African Qual 5th - 6th Sept.
Come on kponkpa, show yourself!
05 Sep 13:30 Malawi v Guinea 2.7 3.2 2.37 05 Sep 14:30 Rwanda v Egypt 4.75 3.4 1.66 05 Sep 15:30 Gabon v Cameroon 3.1 3.25 2.1 05 Sep 18:00 Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso 1.33 4.33 8.0 06 Sep 14:00 Mozambique v Kenya 2.1 3.25 3.1 06 Sep 16:00 Benin v Mali 2.7 3.2 2.37 06 Sep 16:30 Togo v Morocco 2.1 3.25 3.1 06 Sep 17:00 Nigeria v Tunisia 1.72 3.25 4.5 06 Sep 18:00 Ghana v Sudan 1.16 6.0 12.0 06 Sep 21:00 Algeria v Zambia 1.4 4.0 7.0 Rwanda v Egypt - Rwanda have drawn one and lost two of their games so far, losing 3-0 to Egypt last time out, Egypt need the win to keep up pressure on Algeria at the top of the group but will be without 4 or 5 players for the game including top scorers Zaki, Zidan and Mido. Hard to see many goals in this one for me, also being played at altitude, Egypt are a bit hit and miss, they can score goals but are missing key personnel against a side who generally dont concede many..under 2.5 for me. Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso - Ivory Coast are in prime position to qualify for the World Cup, they have a very good team that I imagine is the best in Africa and really got screwed by the 'group of death' at the last WC finals. They have named a very strong squad for this one and im sure their will be a big crowd in.. Burkina are no pushovers though they have won 2 and lost one of their three so far (lost 3-2 to IC last time out) Moumouni Dagano is the joint highest scorer in the qualifing with 10, the coach has also taken over at Le Mans in France and will be coach of both sides after raising his stock with 7 wins 1 draw and 1 loss in Burkina's qualifying so far.. This may seem on paper like a thrashing and I will prob play the -1 handicap due to the price, but it prob wont be my big bet of the weekend as Burkina are a good side..price for Ivory -1 isnt out yet but it will be 1.7 I expect. Ghana v Sudan - Ghana are in a similar position to IC and will be very confident of victory at home to Sudan..I watched Sudan's game against Benin when they lost 1-0 (kponkpa's banker bet i believe!) and they were not up to much..Ghana won 2-0 last time out away in Sudan in very hot conditions, and I expect them to win by 2 or 3 this time also. Not sure if Ghana qualify for the finals if they win this one but they will be virtually there.. The 1.18 or whatever it is is obviously no use to anyone but when the handicaps are available they will be there to take advantage of! Algeria v Zambia - Algeria are currently on top of the table above Egypt and are looking to qualify for the finals for the first time since '86. Algeria as a country is in economic turmoil at the minute and the national side is one of the few escapes from the problems of day to day life (taken from el watan the Algerian daily)..this may not mean much to us but it does ensure that the team will be highly motivated and the crowd are nuts apparently (which i always like), with the paper also asking the fans not to use pyrotechnics in the ground to avoid sanctions from FIFA! They appear to have few selection problems and beat Zambia away 2-0 last time out.. I will wait for kponkpa's views but Algeria look a solid bet and I will be looking at them on the Asian Handicap, and possibly in a double with Ghana.. |

Re: World Cup African Qual 5th - 6th Sept.
Gabon v Cameroun
The clash of the wild cats. The panthers vrs the indomitable lions. The two teams have played 2 matches and Gabon lead the group with 6 points. Cameroun have been disappointing and have only a point. This match was scheduled to be played on 20 June, but the Gabonese pleaded to FIFA to postpone the tie because of the death of the president of the country Omar Bongo. Gabon have surprised all in the group and are really playing well. They are not an attractive side to watch but very robust and effective especially at home. Alain Girresse, the French coach of Gabon has done a good job building such a solid outfit. Cameroun on the other hand have brought in French coach Paul Le Guen to revive their hopes of qualifying. All their notable stars are available for this tie. Eto’o, Rigobet Song and Alex Song, Assou Ekoto, Bikey, Mbia, Webo just to name a few. The Camerounians need nothing less than a victory to revive their hopes and they will be fighting on all cylinders. They won their last friendly against Austria by 2-0 and morale will be high, but in Libreville I seriously doubt their chances of winning. I wouldn’t want to rule out the Gabonese or a draw in this fixture and as such i will tip Gabon not to lose. Pick: Gabon DNB Pick: Gabon win or draw Togo v Morocco Morocco have replaced their coach Roger Lemere with local man Hassan Moumen. They have had to call Force Armee Royales’ Issam Raki and Wydad Athletic Club’s Mohamed Berrabeh as replacemnets for injured regulars Genoa’s Houssine Kharja and Feyenoord’s Karim El Ahmadi. Togo return to play in Lome, after a 4 match home ban. They played all encounters in Accra, Ghana and won all. They will like to mark their return to home soil with a win and this has been boosted by the return of inspirational skipper Emmanuel Adebayor who is on fire for Man city. He missed the game in Morocco due to accumulated yellow cards. Togo will like to keep the pressure on Gabon to secure top place should the later fall at home to Cameroun. Morocco are a fine side and play good football, but have been poor lately. I fancy Togo to take maximum points at home. Pick: Togo to win Nigeria v Tunisia This is the clash of the round in Africa and between the eagles, Super Green Eagles of Nigeria and Cartilage Eagles of Tunisia. Which of the eagles will fly high? Its live on national TV here in Ghana, and I will be watching it on my mobile phone at the stadium in Accra where i will be watching the game between Ghana and Sudan. The Nigeria game starts 2 hours before the Ghana game. Well to business, I can say the winner of this clash will definitely go to South Africa as the other teams in the group are pants. This is a very important game for Nigeria, and they did well holding Tunisia 0-0 in Tunis, but in Abuja they are a different team especially when they want something so bad. Obafemi Martins has been dropped because he hasn’t shown commitment to the country’s cause as stated by coach Amadou, but there comes in bad boy John Mikel Obi, who has missed lots of games recently for Nigeria also because of the reasons attributed to Martins. The absence of Obafemi Martins wouldn’t be felt as the Nigerians abound in so much talent. For the Tunisians, top striker Issam Jemaa returns after missing the first game in Tunis due to an injury and that is a good boost to Tunisia, however, they miss Skipper Jaidi who is still struggling to get work permit to play for Southampton. What a game this will be. The Tunisians are a well organised side, tactically and technically disciplined. I believe they will defend and play on the break. The Nigerians will do what they do best, attack and attack. I just believe the Nigerians with their character will start as favorites and they will beat their Tunisian counterparts. NIGERIA - Goalkeepers - Vincent Enyeama(Hapoel Tel Aviv/ISR), Austin Ejide (Bastia/FRA), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei-Yehuda/ISR) Defenders– Onyekachi Apam (Nice/FRA), Yusuf Mohammed (FC Sion/SWI), Joseph Yobo (Everton/ENG), Obinna Nwaneri (FC Sion/SWI), Taye Taiwo (Olympique Marseille/FRA), Elderson Echiejile (Rennes/FRA), Dele Adeleye (Sparta Rotterdam/NED), Olubayo Adefemi (Boulogne/FRA) Midfielders - John Mikel Obi (Chelsea/ENG), Sani Kaita (FC Kuban/RUS), Seyi Olofinjana (Hull City/ENG), Kalu Uche (Almeria/SPA), Oluwafemi Ajilore (FC Groningen/NED) Forwards - Nwankwo Kanu (Portsmouth/ENG), Osaze Odemwingie (Locomotiv Moscow/RUS), Obinna Nsofor (Malaga/SPA), Ikechukwu Uche (Real Zaragoza/SPA), Michael Eneramo (Esperance/TUN), John Utaka (Portsmouth/ENG), Chinedu Ogbuke-Obasi (Hoffenheim/GER) TUNISIA - Goalkeepers: Hamdi Kasraoui (Lens), Aymen Mathlouthi (Etoile), Jassem Khaloufi (CS Sfaxien) Defenders: Karim Hagui (Hannover/Germany), Yassine Mikari (Sochaux/France), Seif Ghezal (Young Boys/Switzerland), Aymen Abdennour (Etoile), Khaled Souissi (Club Africain), Radhouane (1860 Munich), Bilel Ifaa (Club Africain), Ammar Jmel (Etoile) Midfielders: Chaouki Ben Saada (Nice/France), Houcine Ragued (Slavia Prague/Czech), Fahd Ben Khalfakllah (Valencienne/France), Sofiene Chahed (Hannover/Germany), Chadi Hammami (CS Sfaxien), Khaled Korbi (Esperance), Haythem M'rabet (Sfaxien), Nabil Taider (Xanthi/Greece) Strikers: Oussama Darragi (Esperance), Issam Jomaa (Lens/France), Sami Allagui (Grüther Fürt/Germany), Ali Zitouni (Antalya Sport/Turkey), Zouheir Dhaouadi (Club Africain) PICK: Nigeria to win 1.83 Algeria v Zambia Algeria have regained their form and are on a splendid run lately. In order to secure the world cup place, their coach has stated they have to win all their home games. Currently they have 7 points and should secure a home win against Zambia. Zambia have in their fold Andrew Sinkala and skipper Chris Katongo. Coach Rennard has done well to build a good Zambian team but they were humilated by Algeria on their home pitch 3-1. The senior players of Algeria have demanded a switch from the Algiers to Bilda, since they complain about the state of the pitch in Algiers. They recently beat Uruguay by 1-0 in a friendly and have all their top stars available for this clash. PICK: Algeria to win Ghana v Sudan I need not comment on this tie as its obvious what the outcome will be. But the only caution i can give is those thinking of big handicaps should hold on. The only bane of the Ghanaian team is that they create lots of chances and score only a few. They can hammer the Sudanese and can also win 2-0. Ghana have all their stars in camp. There are a few bets i am interested in this game. I will play it safe and choose tips which will guarantee me returns and these will be part of all my combos this weekend. The coach of Ghana is Milovan Radjevac from Serbia who instills tactical discipline. In all their games Ghana is yet to conceed a goal, so Ghana to keep a clean sheet is certainly a must for me. Ghana to cover the handicap is also another bet for me. Sudan is made mostly of players of El Merrikh and Al Hilal. The team of Ghana includes Goalkeepers: Richard Kingson (Wigan Athletic, England), George Owu (Al Masry, Egypt) William Amamoo (Vaasaland, Sweden) Defenders: John Paintsil (Fulham, England), Samuel Inkoom (Basel FC, Switzerland), Harrison Afful (Asante Kotoko, Ghana), John Mensah (Sunderland, England), Eric Addo (Roda JC, Holland) Isaac Vorsah (Hoffenheim, Germany) Midfielders: Stephen Appiah (Unattached), Michael Essien (Chelsea, England), Anthony Annan (Rosenborg, Norway), Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan, Italy), Laryea Kingston, (Hearts, Scotland) Opoku Agyemang (Al Sadd, Qatar), Haminu Draman (Locomotive Moscow, Russia) Strikers: Asamoah Gyan (Rennes, France), Matthew Amoah (NAC Breda, Holland), Prince Tagoe (Hoffenheim, Germany) and Junior Agogo (Apollon Limassol, Cyprus) PICK 1: Ghana clean sheet(not available now at any bookie, but look out for it) PICK 2: Ghana -1 Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso Another game good to watch. Burkina Faso are a very good side and have no absences. They lost the match against Ivory coast at home by 2-3. Ivory coast have all their stars available for this tie. Drogba, Kalou, the Toure brothers, Eboue just to mention a few. Just take a look at the collection of stars Goalkeepers: Vincent Angban (ASEC Abidjan), Boubacar Barry (Lokeren, Belgium), Ibrahim Kone (Boulogne-sur-Mer, France) Defenders: Benjamin Brou Angoua (Kispest Honved, Hungary), Souleymane Bamba (Hibernian, Scotland), Arthur Boka (Stuttgart, Germany), Guy Demel (Hamburg, Germany), Emmanuel Eboue (Arsenal, England), Igor Lolo (Monaco, France), Abdoulaye Meite (West Bromwich Albion, England), Kolo Toure (Manchester City, England) Midfielders:Emerse Fae (Nice, France), Kouamatien Kone (International Curtea-de-Arges, Romania), Christian Koffi N'dri (Sevilla, Spain), Siaka Tiene (Valenciennes, France), Cheik Ismael Tiote (Twente, Netherlands), Yaya Toure (Barcelona, Spain), Didier Zokora (Sevilla, Spain) Forwards: Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou (both Chelsea, England), Abdelkader Keita (Galatasaray, Turkey), Bakary Kone (Marseille, France), Boubacar Sanogo (Saint-Etienne, France), Sekou Cisse (Feyenoord, Netherlands) PICK 1: Ivory coast home win PICK 2: over 2.5 goals PICK 3: Ivory Coast -1 My definite bankers are Ghana-1, Ivory Coast home win and over 2.5, Algeria |

Quote:
were having them down as solid winners against Morocco, which didnt turn out but then they equalised in the 93rd minute so was almost there, but having watched Togo before they didnt impress me much..Ivory Coast turned out to be much more comfortable than I thought they would, and they look like the side from Africa most likely to make an impact next year.. |
