I'll just nip through these and see who has or has not something to play for

Scotland v FYR Macedonia
Suppose all eyes will be on this one, both teams level on points and fighting for that 2nd spot in group 9, both sides have everything to play for.

Ukraine v Andorra
Ukraine need a win to heap pressure on Croatia in group 6 for at least a 2nd spot, Andorra nothing to play for

Azerbaijan v Finland
Azerbaijan nothing to play for, Finland need a win to have a small chance of qualifying.

Russia v Liechtenstein
Russia will be looking for a win to keep the wolfs at bay and stay in 2nd place, Liechenstein nothing to play for.

Armenia v Bosnia-Herzegovina
Armenia nothing to play for, win for Bosnia keeps them in 2nd spot ahead of turkey who are waiting in the wings to take advantage of any slip ups. Must win game for Bosnia i'd say.

Moldova v Luxembourg
Both look like the whipping boys of group 2, although statistically it looks like Luxembourg stand a very outside chance of qualifying it would take a miracle, should imagine this match will be more about pride and who's going to end up with the wooden spoon.

Bulgaria v Montenegro
Must win game for Bulgaria to have any chance of qualifying while Montenegro look out of it and like Luxembourg would need a mracle to get through to the finals if its statistically possible at all.

Denmark v Portugal
looks like the match of the round this one, Denmark sitting pretty on top of group one with a win here guranteeing them at least 2nd place, Portugal on the other hand wil be depserate for the points to keep in touch with Hungary for 2nd spot before it passes them by because currently they are 4 points behind Hungary who themselves have a tough fixture against the Swedes.

Georgia v Italy
Georgia nothing to play for, Italy will be looking for the win to virtually gurantee a finals place.

Hungary v Sweden
Both sides with plenty to play for, like the Denmark v Portugal game neither side can really afford to drop points as this really is a tough group.

Israel v Latvia
both sides with everything to play for, 3 points here for either side will keep them in with a good chance of qualifying.

Turkey v Estonia
Both sides have something to play for allthough it has to be a must win game for Turkey who are 3 points ahead of Estonia and four behind Bosnia who are in second spot at the moment, I should imagine Turkey will be going all out for the 3 points here.

Austria v Faroe Islands
Must win game for Austria who will the points to have a slim chance of qualification, Faroe Islands have nothing to play for.

Croatia v Belarus
Both sides with everything to play for allthough Croatia will see this as a much win game as they cannot afford to drop any more points due to the Ukraine being on their tail for 2nd spot just 3 points behind them. Belarus need the points to stand an outside chance of qualifying 2nd.

Cyprus v Rep of Ireland
Cyprus have a very slim chance of qualifying whle the Republic cannot really afford to drop any points here as they look to consolidate 2nd spot and keep pressure on the Italians, tight group and dropping points won't be a disaster for Ireland but they must go into this game thinkng only a win will suffice.

Poland v Northern Ireland
Very tough game indeed, a win here for Poland will draw them level with the Irish, while NI will be hoping to get at least a point to put them in with a good chance of qualification, tricky match for the Irish and one that could make or break their progress.

Slovakia v Czech Republic
Slovakia will be looking for at least a point to keep them on top of group 3 while the Czechs really need all 3 to stand a realistic chance of qualifying and put them right in the mix as this group is so tight with 5 teams vying for qualification.
tough match to call and one probably best left well alone unless you know a lot about these two sides.

Switzerland v Greece
Both joint table toppers in group two, a point a piece would leave them there but a win for either side would go along way towards qualification for the Victor. another tough call.

Iceland v Norway
Funny game as both are on very low points and yet both could easily qualify in what has turned out to be a pretty dire group 9. I should imagine Norway will be going into this with their tails up after a pretty resounding win against Scotland but this is also Icelands chance to get back with the pack and i've no doubt they'll be going all out for the points too. Another one off my shortlist allthough i expect Norway to get a few nods from fellow punters.

France v Romania
France will be looking for a win to consolidate 2nd place and virtually kick the Romanians out of the running, Romania need the points to stand`any realistic chance of qualifying, as both these sides are not the teams they once were I won't be touching it but obviously home advantage has to favour the French allthough in the past that had proven to be more of a burden than a help.

Spain v Belgium
Win here all but seals Spains Qualification into the finals while Belgium could do with the points to keep their hopes of second place alive, Can't really see that happening as Spain look far to strong and will be looking to put this group to bed.

Azerbaijan v Finland

Well Azerbaijan has been a great place for winning bets recently (including my 15/8 unders bet last time ) Alas the bookies appear at last to have cottoned on to the fact that Azer are very difficult to break down especially at home and although the unders look good, 4/7 aint a price I want to take this time.

However I am trying to find a better priced bet under a similar basis..FInland need the win desperately and will try their best to, no doubt pinning back Azer. Azer will do what they do best and hold on. And thats what I think they will do all match, with very little oportunity to get out of their half.. I reckon we could see a 0-1, 0-2 result. Whatever the scoreline I cannot see Azer scoring (they have only scored a goal in 2 of their last 8 World Cup home matches. So a price of 2.10 for Azer to not score does appeal to me..

Armenia v Bosnia-Herzegovina

Bosnia have a great opportunity to reach second place in the group ahead of Turkey and will not allow defeat or even a draw come into their heads.

I would normally go for the better odds of 2.05 for Bosnia to win via asian of -1.25, but Bosnia are a bit shakey on their travels (apart from when they played Belguim winning 4-2), and Armenia can make life difficult for visitors at times. It wouldnt be a surprise to see an emphatic victory like against Belguim last time around, but then a 1 goal victory would be enough.

I am playing the cautious game here by taking the -1 asian handicap at a reasonable 1.85 (a one goal win means a stake refund)..

Some shocking odds around for Scotland eh? 1.65 @ unibet for example. Only one, fit centre half available I believe (with any experience) and he's almost 40 years old. The X2 isn't far off being tempting but.... I won't be going there. I could lean towards 'both teams to score' @ around 2.10 - Scotland are never the most reliable at the back even with everyone fit.

I do have a slight interest in something a bit more obscure and, haha, zany: Darren Fletcher to receive a card @ 5.00 (unibet - hopefully I'll spot something better) - we all know he loves a bit of persitent fouling when playing for Man U and I reckon after all the criticism directed the way of the Scotland players (not by me, honest guv!) and the importance of this match, it won't be long before he's taken someone down illegally through sheer enthusiasm or 'accidently' booted a shin or two.

Very little exciting me with this game to be honest. I'd expect Scotland to edge it but as always it'll be horrible to sit through.

Moldova v Luxembourg

Well the last of my early WC matches is Moldova v Luxembourg..

Many view Luxembourg comparible with San Marino and Andorra. However that is not the case, indeed on nearly the one year anniversary they had their greatest moment beating Switzerland in a World Cup Qualifier away !! Of course they are no World beaters and a 4-0 home defeat and a 2-0 defeat away against Latvisa as well as a draw against Moldova doesn’t look great reading. But they do sit above Moldova with 4 points – Moldova have 1 point. sit second bottom. Moldova will be motivated to win this, but at odds of 4/9 and 2/5 I find those odds poor. Lux will definitely try and give them a game and 0-0, 1-1, 1-0 and 2-1 look the most likely results. With that in mind I am very much tempted with the 2.00 odds on the +1.25 for Luxembourg. I really do think they can cover the handicap at decent odds..

Hopefully Saturday afternoon will set me up for the evening matches..

Couple of outsiders interest me in LUXEMBOURG and FAROE ISLANDS. Trickrick has pretty much said it all above and Luxembourg must have a sporting chance at the odds.

The Faroes' is more speculative, but I seem to remember that thier first ever win in International Football was against the Austrians. They drew the reverse 1- 1 and have kept things a lot tighter this time round than in previous qualifying groups. Lack of goals is an obvious worry, but happy to take a chance at Unibet's 22.

Scotland frighten me to death tell the truth, they are playing the mighty Macedonia at home in a must win qualifier and nobody knows which way to turn.

Scottish football may not be the force it once was say 15 or 20 yrs ago but surely they can put out a team to beat fcuking Macedonia. I'm sorry but we need to have faith in out neigbours North of the border and I'm with Keggers on this in that Scotland should give them a walloping, ffs we've had Braveheart shoved in our faces since Mel Gibson decided to take the lead, lets not let ourselves down my wee scots friends in a match that means twice as much in todays perspective.

Come on Scotland show us what being Scottish and proud is all about and kick their arse, I'd love nothing more than seeing as many of the home International teams in South Africa as possible, especially the Jocks.

Israel v Latvia

Interesting game this..Both teams have chances still to catch the top 2 in the group but time is running out and it's all about the win, therefore both teams will be out for the win.. Looking at Israel's historical results their last 10 WC qualifying home games have resulted in them scoring but also conceeding in every match. Latvia have scored in 10 of their last 12 WC qualifying away matches (failing only against Russia and Portungal).

Put all those elements together and this points to an open match where both teams can score and surely will score in a must win game for both?
