Re: European U21 Championship
Anyone expect anything other than an England victory? England -1 @ 2.20 bet365 might be interesting.
England v Finland A quarter of a century after they last lifted the European Under-21 crown, England will open the 2009 finals in Sweden with a Group B encounter against a Finland side new to this advanced stage of the competition. • Stuart Pearce's team enter the tournament's curtain-raiser in Halmstad aiming to better their impressive performance in the Netherlands two summers ago when they came within a whisker of reaching the UEFA European U21 Championship final, only to go down on penalties to the hosts in the semi-finals. • England qualified for the eight-team final round for the fourth time thanks to a 5-4 aggregate play-off victory over Wales. They arrive in Sweden seeking a third U21 triumph after previous successes in 1982 and 1984, when the entire competition still comprised home-and-away two-legged contests. • Markku Kanerva's Finland are competing in the finals for the first time. They booked their place in Sweden by defeating Austria on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate draw in their play-off tie. The Finns' goalkeeper, Tomi Manooja, saved two spot-kicks in the shoot-out win but misses these finals through injury. • England can take heart from the countries' head-to-head record in competitive U21 fixtures, with four wins and just one loss from six previous meetings. |

Re: European U21 Championship
Just thinking about a cheeky wee Belarus 'double chance' @ 2.00 bet365 - anyone know anything or seen them play?
Hosts Sweden will end their long wait for competitive action when they kick off their UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals campaign against outsiders Belarus in Malmo. • The team co-coached by Tommy Söderberg and Jörgen Lennartsson qualified automatically for the tournament and so have not played a competitive match since the crushing 5-0 home play-off defeat by Serbia in October 2006 that ended their hopes of qualifying for the previous final edition. • They will hope to hit the ground running in Group A, a section that also includes Italy and Serbia, yet history suggests they should not underestimate a Belarus side who caused a major upset in their opening game on their previous finals appearance. • That was in 2004 when Belarus beat eventual champions Italy 2-1 through an Aleksandr Hleb winning goal, albeit before subsequently missing out on a semi-final place. The eastern Europeans booked a return to the finals by bettering Turkey 2-1 on aggregate in a qualifying play-off. uefa.com-UEFA European U-21 C'ship-Fixtures & Results-Match Specific |

Re: European U21 Championship
England -1 is odds on most places now but 2.10 available @ bluesq if anyone is into it. They certainly look capable on paper huh? I suppose Finland have a few goals in them so it's not one to be getting too excited about. Errrr.... come on England. Do it for Babs.

Re: European U21 Championship
Pretty straightforward, if you ask me. Spain to emerge victorious against the Germans by one goal to nil, perhaps. I couldn't be sure of the exact score unless I've full knowledge of all 22 players in the match.
