Greece -1/2 over Switzerland


Greece continues to impress. In three qualifiers to date, Greece has taken the maximum 9 points and leads group 2. Their opponent in Wednesday's match, Switzerland has taken 4 points from 3 matches. Showing little imagination in attack, Switzerland has not impressed and certainly are not living up to expectations. Look for Greece to continue their winning ways and take all 3 points from the Swiss in Wednesday's group 2 match-up.

Our Tip posted here for Saturday's World Cup qualifying was Bolivia -1/2 over Peru. Scoring twice in the opening few minutes, a win was never in doubt and they went on to an easy 3-0 win.

Finland are an interesting team – they seem to have really improved of late and almost as importantly – they are a difficult team to play when they are away from home. Since September 2006, they have conceded only 1 goal in 6 ‘competitive’ matches (not friendlies) , losing only 1 game (1-0)..These were include games including against Portugal, Serbia and Belgium.. They certainly seem to raise their games against the better teams..I admit that Russia are scoring (and conceding) goals at home, but odds against for under 2.5 goals, in what will be a difficult game for Russia to break down Finland, is a nice price..

CR - Slovenia
As i wrote earlier (info about Poland - CR game) the blow-up in Poland wasn´t so big surprise that are local medias trying to make from it. And it only shows that are new/old coach makes the same mistakes that Bruckner did. I hope for some changes in the team and I think this game will be similiar to the game from last qualification against Cyprus that ended 1:0 for our team, Cyprus had many chances to score, but we were luckier, and the situation was almost the same no one liked our team, the line-up and our untouchable stars, whose think that victory will come without work..

Slovenia has good team and they will try to harvest maximum from our bad mood. They will have some chances, but we will score some goal.

Decent punt on the Dutch for me tonight.

Norway were well on top against Scotland for 60 minutes on Saturday, mainly as a result of Scotland playing without any sort of presence up front, and trying to dominate a passing game. With the large Norwegian defence dealing with any long ball with complete ease, they could press well up the pitch and were under next to no pressure for much of the match.

Nevertheless, a couple of changes on 60 minutes and the game was on it's head - a couple of big strikers meaning the long ball became an option again, and with the Norwegians having to sit well off the defence and defensive midfield, their frailties in dealing with a passing team with time to play became obvious. The fact that Scotland couldnt take advantage of that is another story.

So can the Dutch take advantage? I think so - they have the strikers to force the Norwegians to sit off - Huntelaar is a decent out ball if they need it, and given time to play, the have the passing ability in the middle in players like VDV and wingers like Babel to really take advantage of a poor Norwegian defence. The Dutch defence is decent on the deck too, so they should have the foundations for dominating this one quite easily.
