Re: Euro 2008: Group D

Can't see past Spain myself asn and welcome to TDP by the way, the others in that group look old in the tooth now whilst Spain have a few good young players now who are very worldy widely for once like Fabreagas and Torres who know what its like to play outside Spain unlike players from the past who used to get the jitters once they passed the border, much like british players in fact.

Of the other three teams I wouldent rule out Russia to qualify as i Reckon there as much on par as Greece and Sweden with a lot more strength in depth.

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

It would be a while since spain even won a group like this would it not? Perenial slow starters and also not very good in the later stages i suppose. This looks like 'draw city' to me and maybe the Swedes could show their resiliance in a tournie like this. Larsoon and co are no longer playing are they not? I suppose it might be changed days for Sweden then. Ive got no idea about this then but i wouldnt like to back spain in any capacity. I think russia were poor enough in qualifying for me to discount them. Not good travellers are they not?

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

I'm on the Spain wagon here as well. Cant see them failing - unless they dont want to win the group ie Get an easier opponent in the later stages (winner from Group C).

I never got the 11/10 but 10/11 was close enough but I see some places are down to 5/6.

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

Spain to qualify is out of question

i feel that time has arrived for this great school of soccer to win the title

extremely strong squad, the best imo for decates, the best goalkeeper of this tournament, momentum on high sky, hungry to celebrate major tournament succes

who is candidate apart from spain? germany? this is sounds like joke to me....italy? i dont think so, but of course italy is italy, may do it but...may also not qualify from their group, france? simply no comments, they cannot, also may not qualify from their group

Spain all the way for me to win the title

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

If I was told that the games were already fixed for Spain to go to the final, I still would NOT bet on it!

Spain did great in a recent freindly vs Italy. Practically, Italy had no chance with the Spaniards appearing as if they had 10 defenders inside their area, yet 5-6 elswhere doing the offensive part of their game!

David Villa's goal was superb, so good that I would challenge him to produce a similar shot in 10 attempts.. 20... erm.. 50???

However, I just don't see "Spain" and "Trophy" fitting into the same line, without "NOT" being also in the same line. How did Spain do in the last world cup?? Ok, Euro 2004?? remember the group stage elimination in 1998? They seem to always come in as favourites, and somehow manage to mess it all up!

Maybe the Russians can rely on the 5-6 players they have from Zenit? Still thinking about how this one will go

I'm on the Russians to qualify here, i think they will finish top two, with Hiddink in charge i'm a little confident they'll take care of Sweden and Greece.

Group D

Russia to qualify, 6.00 @ 11/8 Bet365

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

i dont predict the past

so is meaningless what you said about euro2004 or whatever in the past

i speak NOW is the time for Spain

another affair to take into consideration is Netherlands, everybody there are speaking about trophy, and i beleive they have the team to do it, if circumstances and luck are on their side

anyway, many countries are candidates for the title., because there isnt any team as grand favourite, more or less, the final 8, they will have chances for the title

for betting reasons, my money is on spain

as for the rest three of the group, all of them have equal chances to qualify, perhaps sweden is the weakest one, lets see

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

I'm not sure Sweden are such big outsiders as some people seem to think here. They were only 2pts behind Spain in the end in their qualifying group, and beat them comfortably at home 2-0 in the early stages of that group, before then losing 3-0 in Madrid. In a one-off game on neutral territory I think they're quite capable of beating any of the sides in this group, including Spain.

Re: Euro 2008: Group D

hello rcgills

what is big enigma here in this group is greece ...

i dont know what to expect from them, Rehagel is a well known as a defender, so greece will play just not to be defeated, and hope to steal a win or two?/? thats rehagel tactics

russsia was realy bad against serbia in friendly, sweden as well against slovenia, this group is uncertain....

here are my estimations

to qualify :

Spain 33%

Greece 30%

Russia 20%

Sweden 17%

Russia 40%

Greece 10%

Sweden 10%

Russia are 6/5 to qualify from their group. Nearly had a mild heart attack there.

I took the 11/8 PTDSEI, looks like they've had some support. I just missed the 6/4 Bet365 had the day before
