Next Scottish Manager

Seeing as these threads are all the rage why not have a scotland one too. This from bettingzone-

Quote:
1515: Bookies bet365 have seen plenty of money for Graeme Souness to be the next manager of Scotland.

Spokesman Steve Freeth said: "We’ve seen Souey’s odds tumble from 10/1 into 2/1 over the last few days and this plunge would suggest he figures highly on the SFA shortlist."

Next Permanent Manager Of Scotland: Tommy Burns 5/4, Graeme Souness 2, Mark McGhee 5/2, George Burley 13/2, Billy Davies 14. Others on request.

1240: The odds on Mark McGhee replacing Alex McLeish as Scotland manager shortened dramatically with bet365 on Friday morning.

McGhee is now 8/13 favourite while Graeme Souness is out to 3/1, Tommy Burns is 9/2 and George Burley is 11/2.

bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: "We're hearing negative vibes about the other three contenders and punters only want to back McGhee – he's gone from even money into 8/13 in the space of a couple of hours on Friday morning."

BURLEY 5/4 FOR FINALS JOY
Scotland are 5/4 to qualify for a major tournament under new boss George Burley.

Saints boss Burley has been confirmed as the man the SFA want to succeed Alex McLeish as the new national team boss.

The only way Burley will not become the new Scotland boss is if he turns down the position, however after agreeing to be interviewed for the post that seems inconceivable.

The 51-year-old was the preferred candidate of the SFA's interview panel, which included chief executive Gordon Smith and president George Peat.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee, Celtic first-team coach Tommy Burns and former Rangers boss Graeme Souness were all considered for the post, which became vacant when McLeish resigned on November 27 to take charge of Barclays Premier League side Birmingham.

And Hills go 5/4 that Scotland reach either the World Cup finals or the European Championships under Burley - and 4/7 that they fail to do so.

Hills' odds also suggest that Burley will stick with Barry Ferguson as his captain at 1/8 and they offer 16/1 that Scotland remain unbeaten in their first eight qualifiers.

James McFadden is the 3/1 favourite to be the first to score under Burley but Hills offer 15/8 that Burley leaves the job in 2009.

"George Burley is a very good manager but he has his hands full getting Scotland to the World Cup finals in 2010," reckoned Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

# Burley's imminent appointment leaves the Southampton hot seat vacant and Sky Bet have installed former Derby boss Billy Davies as 7/2 favourite to take the reins.

Glenn Hoddle is 5/1 second favourite but the early money has been for Paul Ince (trimmed from 16/1 to 12/1) who was also well backed for both the Wigan and Bolton posts.
