Chester Today

Is it on the tv? Sorry about my lack of information. Any lurkers reading this will know more than me so dont blame me for offering you nothing. aye im on the take

Here's something i was reading. What you all on?

Quote:
Punters have been quick to latch on to the progressive staying four year olds Highland Legacy and Double Banded at the foot of the weights for the totesport.com Chester Cup.
It is hard to argue to be fair as they have plenty going for them.

Both represent big stables, come here on the back of winning performances, have top jockeys booked and are decently drawn.

It will be a toss-up who goes off favourite but both will have to make more progress against some tough stayers in what is a fairly unique test of speed and stamina.

Last year's winner Greenwich Meantime holds sound claims again off a one-pound higher mark but trainer Richard Fahey said he wishes he had got 10 more days to prepare.

I have plenty of respect for Black Rock as trainer Michael Jarvis produced the gallant Anak Pekan to win back-to-back runnings of the race in recent seasons.

However, the son of Rock Of Gibraltar is not really bred for this extreme test and his handler was talking more in terms of him being most effective up to two miles this season.
At the prices, I suggest siding with Mick Channon's Som Tala at 20/1 with Ladbrokes.

Fifth in this 12 months ago, he strictly has it to do at the weights with Greenwich Meantime but could be considered a bit better than the bare result as he was hampered on more than one occasion.

He relishes this sort of trip, had a sighter on the all-weather last month (beaten favourite) and Frankie Dettori has emerged at the 11th hour for the ride in place of Tadgh O'Shea.

In the minus column, he doesn't win too often and Dettori is going to have to weave some magic at some stage from his draw in 13 but the price on offer at Laddies is out of line and worth an interest for sure.

Re: Chester Today

OK than, I'll use the opened thread to share my fancies for today in Chester.

1.45 - Lay the red hot fav She a Shaw Thing @1.88
Too short price in my opinion and the main danger (Doncaster Rover) looks better to me, especially under Lanfranco's ride. Worths to be opposed at that price.

2.15 - Sticking to the fav here - Sugar Mint to win!

2.45 - three each way beauties - Greenwich Meantime @13, Bulwark @65 and Som Tala @18.5 (4 places there)

3.15 - Matsunosuke @9.6

4.00 - lay Moonquake to place @1.4 - that doesn't mean the bastard won't win

4.35 - Leamington EW @11

Re: Chester Today

Som Tala is also tipped by Donald Keys I noticed. Isn't he dreamy? Does look a good shout though.

2.45 Som Tala has tickled my brain a little at not bad odds. 19.00 @ betfair and 16/1 with Fred and Bluesq. This animal is a decent e/w shout and having four legs and fully functioning internal organs is a bonus. There are no real negatives screaming at me.

Re: Chester Today

My picks for today...

2.30 BEVERLEY:

Now talking about Magic Moments - if this horse wins today (I am going eachway) it really will be an MM, but I think it could be the dog's day.

Hasn't won since the Great War, but been placed many times - and again looks decent place material - could it be PAWAN's day?

3.15 CHESTER:

Last years winner CARRIBEAN CORAL will have been primed again for this, has a bit more to do than last year, but will be thereabouts...

BETS
PAWAN = 5 POINTS EACWAY
CARRIBEAN CORAL = 5 POINTS EACHWAY

Additional Pick - TILT in the Chester Cup = Win Bet

I hope you just ticked FAV enginner I missed it i must admit. I would have clicked FAV. It no matter to me. It's like missing a pair of aces while you clean up spilled coffee. Or something like that.

Taken Pawan 7/1 e/w Merlin

I've read that Donald Keys stuff before Mick when he used to tip some Bulgarian horse racing site. Is he better at british horses?
