One out of three ain't bad
This could be the start of something beautiful, or it could be the biggest fukk up since the lookout on the Titanic decided to catch forty winks while nothing was happening.
Have you ever noticed, when you've narrowed your selections in a race down to two or three, it's usually one of the ones that you've discarded and not backed that ends up winning? No? Well can you pretend you have for the purpose of this thread then? It strikes me that, at this time of the year with the big fields (especially in the sprint handicaps but often in other races too) I'd probably be as well off backing all three of my shortlist, rather than discarding two of them. So that's what I'm going to do today. I'll allocate 15 points to my main fancy and 10 points each on the ones that got to the shortlist, making a total of 35 points per race invested. Today's selections to follow shortly. Last edited by ONEDUNME : 21-05-2005 at 12:12. Reason: Lost the whole post and Im not happy |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Here we go then. All bets are win bets and prices quoted (in brackets) are betfair. I know this is a bit of a "Scattergun" approach and not for the purists but what the hell
....150 Haydock I've not got off to a very good start here because I'm struggling to get down to three In the end I've decided to discard Tedsdale Mac at 10 and go for the following.)15 pts Tregarren (5.6) 10 pts Band (10.5) 10 pts Tony Tie (12) (A good ew bet at sp too in my opinion) 230 Haydock 15 pts Smokin Beau (7.4) 10 Beckermet (11) 10 Dazzling bay (7) 320 Catterick (Doctor Thong just failed to make the shortlist @ 15) 15 Master Robbie (7.4) 10 Tony the tap (6.8) 10 Tough Love (12) 325 Lingfield 15 Jack Dawson (6.8) 10 Decisive (9.4) 10 Land n stars (4.4) 340 Newm 15 Resplendent Glory (4.3) 10 Intoxicating (5.2) 10 Gilderstern (7.8) 355 Catt 15 Prarie Sun (4.2) 10 Toni Alcala (10.5) 10 Considine (11.5) I've put two in bracket in two of the races as reserves in case any of the three selections are non runners (stake will be 10 points) Hope this is all clear |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Losers in the first one. Get on the 230, it's a safe bet.
Here's another one for later if anyone's got any money left. 545 stratford 15 Zonnergem (7) 10 Darria (7) 10 Castleshane (25) |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
150 Haydock = -35 points
230 Haydock = -35 points (beckermet 3rd at 12/1) 320 Catterick= -35 , 2 placed at 17/2 and 11/2 325 Lingfield = -35 points 140 points down on the day so far 340 Newm 15 Resplendent Glory won (4.3), profit of 27 on race and reducing deficit to 113 points on day (gilderstern 3rd at 6/1) 355 Catt 15 Prarie Sun won (4.2). profit of 25.6 on race, reducing deficity to 87.4 points on day 545 stratford 10 Darrias (7) won (at 9 to bloody 1 as well) to make 32 points on race to reduce deficit to 55.4 points on day. Not overly impressive. I know life's all about if's and buts but a win instead of a second in the 320 would have made a profit of 80 instead of a loss of 35 and we would be talking about a profit of 60 points on the day, rather than a loss of 55 so I'll give it another go today. Selections to follow. Last edited by ONEDUNME : 22-05-2005 at 13:45. Reason: Cos I feel like it |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Bloody hell - didnt realise we were so close to the off
southwell 2pm I'll just go for 10 each on Robbie on Tour and our jolly swagman on this. My third choice was lanmire tower but it must have lost a leg or something because its out to 15/1 on betfair. Ah fukk it, I'll bang 5 points on it. 25 invested on first race |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Only two shortlisted in the 230 as well
The Glen (9) and Nawow (6), 10 points on each |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Lanmire Tower placed. I'd love to know why the price was so big if anyone was watching the racing and can let me know. I'd have backed it ew at SP with real money if I hadn't been put off by the drift.
Anyway, 250 at Brighton Divinsky 15 points at 6.2 Grumpyintmorning 10 points at 20 Kew the music 10 points at 12 |

Re: One out of three ain't bad
Nawow won for a profit of 37.5 points on the race, wiping out the 25 point deficit from race one and making a running profit of 12.5 points on the day going into the 250 race.

Re: One out of three ain't bad
35 pts lost in the 250 = -22.5 on the day
410 at Hereford 15 points on Paddy the Optimist at sp and 10 points on Dead eyed Dick at 9.6 on betfair |
