Ripon 3.45 Oil Strike 1.5 pts e/w @ 7/1


Short price in the context of the race, but his run behind Kanaf who subsequently ran well behind Hoof It on Saturday is enough for me to support it. That run was twice hampered and this race should be less hassle with the field splitting.

Whether the 1 draw is decent is simply dependent on the early pace around him.

Inititially looks a tough race for a class 3, with a ceiling of 95, but the are plenty the can discounted IMO.

Going with the following 4 :-

4:50 Naas - CHEERS BUDDY - Been with this one a couple of times recently and still not completely sure what to make of him. Did win a couple on the bounce earlier this Year and did hint at a revival 2 ago. LTO was too bad to be true and I still think he can win off this sort of mark.

5:35 Cork - DEFINITE FLYER - The Colin Bowe stable is a favourite of mine and this one looks a likely sort on paper. None of those with form look unbeatable, so ultimately happy to go with a newcomer. I would expect SURE OSCAR to be Favourite and I feel this is justified.

7:25 Carlisle - BANDANAMAN - Goes well at the course, gets the trip and looks pretty nicely weighted. Still a maiden on the flat, but has shown himself to be quite decent over hurdles. Strong pace would arguably help and no surprise to me if there was one.

8:55 Carlisle WINGED FARASI - Infrequent winner on the flat, but another that has made his mark over hurdles. Went close in a similar race on his only visit to the track and is IMO, s weighted to go close

Well done Topdog and Stonecold.

Oil strike was awful with no excuses. I was very lucky as I was certain it was a NR, with stands side stall empty and put a small bet on the 2nd fav that went and won. Turned out I forgot about the stalls being renumbered and was looking at the wrong side.
