Fancy a couple in the early races at Nottingham at decent odds...

1.40 - Bermondsey Bob always needs his first couple of runs in a season and he ran a good 2nd on Monday on his 3rd start of 2011. Drawn well for a horse who likes to force the pace, he looks sure to go close in a pretty weak race. Currently 8.0.

2.10 - another weak race for div 2, Flying Applause looks to hold strong claims, form here on good or faster reads 112 and the fact that he stays further will help in the finish, especially if up against 2nd fav STEEL CITY BOY who doesn't seem to get home over 6f on a straight track. Currently 5.5.

I've backed these earlier at 15/2 and 5/1 in singles and an ew double, will be pretty disappointed if both aren't placed at least.

Bermondsey Bob a massive disappointment there, up there early, dropped away to finish a well-beaten 6th.

Going through the horrors recently, so decided to follow you Seen on FLYING APPLAUSE. Steel City Boy does worry me a bit, but his overall turf recoed is less than convincing. I have instead added RAINY NIGHT and METHALLY for a combo forecast.

Flying Applause wins at 11/4 so having taken 5/1 early it's put me in front, but still smarting over the poor run of Bob in the opener!

2.40 Nott - I'm doing well by following those horses which were badly drawn at the 3-day York meeting last month, another runs in this race, MANOORI. She's only evens on BF though so will oppose her with Pineapple Pete at much bigger odds (currently 8.6 / 2.22). This horse ran here on Sunday and travelled really smoothly despite drawn in the centre of the track, came to challenge but hung badly right and lost out by a neck. Had he kept straight, or had he been drawn on the rail, he'd have won so is a winner without a penalty here, and even better is drawn 9 of 9 bang on the rail.
He might not beat the fav but he travels so well in his races I'll be amazed if he doesn't trade shorter in-running, might even hold on.

Thanks for that one Seen. Talked myself out of the forecast / tricast, by dumping STEEL CITY BOY, but his overall profile, plus the drift in price put me off.

Got 3 of my own tonight, though could hardly be in worse nick. Again hopeful if not optimistic with the following :-

5:30 Tipperary - CHOCOLATE HILLS - Well enough bred to be of interest and the stable can get one ready. Full respect to the top 2 in the betting, but don't think this one should be 14's.

5:45 Fontwell - TITCH STRIDER - FAV is in danger of going off too short and this one of Milan's ran nicely LTO, when only beaten by a decent looking sort. She should benefit from the marginal step up in trip and looks a viable alternative to the Henderson runner.

8:30 Tipperary - NANGALOO REEF - Backed this one LTO and was not best pleased to see it break loose in the preliminaries. In the circumstances, I thought he did well to finish 8th and was going well up until the 2 pole. Did fade a bit after that but considering what happened before the start, I am willing to forgive him. Immediately stepped up 2f. and enough middle distance sort in his pedigree to provide optimism. As with his debut, largely ignored in the betting and 66's, looks way too big.

It's not good to blow your own trumpet but I will kick myself if I don't mention that I've just had three winners at 8/1, 8/1 and 10/1, one placed at 5/1 for each way money back and one loser.
