It’s not very often Nicky Richards sends his horses this far south and it’s his only runner at the meeting.

Benbane Head appreciated the return to a sound surface and ran better, as did Merrydown, who had looked to need his two runs since returning from a year off. Both will be of interest in the coming weeks.

Ran well here two years ago, Topspeed has him highest rated, it’s the only runner Richards has sent to the festival and any rain would only help.

Decent size E.W Punt for me.

What I don't understand is the fav running here when it's likely to get into the Swinton on Saturday ?

Connections will have a likely answer, probably feeling he can hack up today.

I can't see him getting a hard race regardless on ground he's never encountered, especially with regard to Sat's race.

Bocciani looks to be harhly treated being raised 10lb for winning last h/cap hurdle and Olivino has claims speedwise in a hurdle race. Worth a try with a pro jock on board and ground to suit, opposing the odds on.

Annelko is probably the safe alternative, as like many of the trainers horses, loves hard going and looks to have plenty in it's favour.

Merrydown was prominent when fell 5 out. I'll be on it again next time out.

I took a look at it Punt, even though I really back the jumpers, but the trainer is a big put off for me. Even at the big price, his horses seem to continually fail when I'm on.
