Saturday 23rd April
Guys,
Thought id start Saturday's thread early as im busy tomorrow and probably not have time to post. lots of racing to get stuck into tomorrow and at the moment im keen on quite a few: sandown > 235 TATANIANO looked a potentially class chaser to follow this season after a mightily impressive novice chase win at last years aintree festival, unfortunately it has disappointed since and met with a setback hence the reason that this is only its second outing of the campaign. nevertheless this paul nicholls runner should prove hard to beat if fit and should have no problems with the ground conditions. 310 MEANUS DANDY another nicholls runner in the feature race of the day and it will certainly be fresher than most of these given the fact that it hasn't run since february. has contested some decent staying chases this season and was a good winner of the badger ales chase at wincanton before christmas. its has winning course form here and is lightly raced also. ruby takes the ride and is a fair each way selection for me. 450 TREBLE JIG very lightly raced well bred 4yo colt of michael stoute's that could well be one to follow this season given the stables fine record with older horses, hopefully starting today. 520 EDGEWATER ran a very promising 2nd lto and can hopefully go one better in this flat v jumps challenge race. encouraging that ryan moore has been allocated the ride in this unique event which should be a big plus and it looks a decent bet. haydock > 400 EYRE SQUARE progressive horse from the keith reveley yard that has run some fine races this year alternating between hurdles and chases. was a good winner lto over hurdles and goes back over the fences here. whilst it has been prone to the odds blunder id be hopeful it can go well again over this staying trip. 435 HAVINGOTASCOOBYDO has come on leaps and bounds recently and is a most progressive hurdler for martin keighley. has a go at the fixed brush hurdles today but is worth supporting as its still ahead of the handicapper and will relish the ground conditions. i expect to see this one out a few more times in the next month oe so. musselburgh > 340 BEAT THE RUSH big beast of a horse from the malton stable of julie camacho and looked a decent sort early on last season and could potentially develop into a pretty good staying handicapper this year. fitness is taken on trust on seasonal debut here but its without doubt an animal to keep on the right side in the coming months imo. 515 RAVI RIVER likable sort of brian ellison's that has been knocking on the door of late and can finally get its head in front here with a bit of luck. travelled well lto only to find one too good inside the final furlong at newcastle. nottingham > 600 JIMMY THE LOLLYPOP well regarded youngster of kevin ryan's that made its debut in the brocklesby at doncaster last month. was supported in the market that day and ran with a lot of promise before inexperience told late on. with that experience under its belt this one can go close here on a course where the trainer regularly has success with his 2yo's. |

Re: Saturday 23rd April
Good luck Tyke.
I'm being dragged around places from hell all day ![]() Muss 3.40 Beat The Rush @ 10/1 Competetive race but this horse looked progressive until final run of the season. previous run reads very well and step up in trip could possibly see him still well treated. ran a fine race 1st time out last season. Re: Saturday 23rd April
Spot on Pete, too many meetings today and personally am keeping things low - key. All mine are at decent prices and hopeful of a place or two :-
4:05 Cork - BORN TO EXCEL - Useful performer on his day, but does have a toughish draw to overcome. Should be fitter for his run over hurdles and still looks a threat off 74. No problem with conditions and just too big at 16's. 5:35 Cork - THE FOUR ELMS - Unraced sort, but related to enough winners, to be of minor interest. Useful dual purpose trainer who does get the odd flat winner. Looks up against in this field, but just too big at 100's. 8:00 Nottingham - CARVER COUNTY - Will need to improve for the step up in trip, but enough in the pedigree to suggest that he will get the trip. Must be better than his currnet mark of 41 and worthy of a small dabble at 40's. |

Re: Saturday 23rd April
Nott 6.30 Athwaab @ 13.5
Lees Anthem. Saver @ 10.0 I was looking for something to run up the stands side rail, but nothing really takes my eye, so I do have reservations about backing two horses with possibly the worst draw. Athwaab comes here on a much lower turf mark than last season and the booking of a 7lb claimer for the 1st time indicates they hope to get a flyer and make all. Lees Anthem ran well lto from a bad draw and should improve for run. beamer |

Re: Saturday 23rd April
About time Samoan.
Guessed right about the claim being used to push the early pace and managed to get the rail anyway. Managed a decent profit on a day that looked really tough to me. Cheers beamer |
