Majority of mine ran well yesterday, but none got their head in front. Couple of places at decent prices ( inc. one at 25's ) and a couple that were well backed and I was able to secure a profit. Won't be able to access betfair this Afternoon, so could do with a couple of winners. Might leave the odd bet, in case anything goes really short in - running.

3:00 Southwell - SHAKESPEARE EXCEL - Put this one up last Week and he ran well and proved that he acts on the surface. Has 3 of last week's in opposition again, but is the least exposed of the 4 and should have their number. Nothing else greatly worries me so happy to go with Derek Shaw's runner.

4:30 Southwell - ESPERIT DE MIDAS - Ran well LTO in a competitive Donny Handicap and the step up in trip will suit. AW mark looks generous and in 2009 ran up a quick C and D hat trick. Tight handicap, but deserves to be at the head of the market.

5:50 Fontwell - GORES ISLAND - Ran a nice debut behind Knight's Pass and whilst this one disappointed a bit at the festival, the form still looks strong. Big fan of the trainer in these races and another that deserves to be prominent in the betting.

7:15 Wolverhampton - SPIRIT OF OAKDALE - Probably has more talent that he has shown ( well backed on occasions as well ) and hopefully the first time visor will help. I have a feeling that 7f, will be his optimum trip and would expect a big run today.

Each Way Bets

5:30 Bath - EXCELLENCE - Decent race for an EW bet and taking a chance with this one. He was a very cheap buy, but does have a nice mix of speed and stamina in his pedigree. Should appreciate the surface and worth a small bet at 50's.

6:15 Wolverhampton - DART - Big favourite of mine, but would need to put her last 2 runs behind her. Does tend to go through quiet periods and could easily pop up again at any time. This is arguably her favourite track and has no problems with the trip. Too big at 20's IMO.

just two of interest today, neither are really decent prices but i do reckon they will both run solid races and take a lot of beating :

pontefract340 DESCARO 5/2
landed a 2m2f race here a while ago with something in hand and is taken to carry on in the same vein again today over this longer trip which should be any problem.

southwell430 ESPRIT DE MIDAS 11/4
have to agree with you samoan on this ones chances today. its run in its last race at doncaster was good as its a race i think will throw up quite a few winners in the near future and looks sure to be cherry ripe for that almost lethal combo of ryan and makin once again here.

3.10 Ponte - Internationaldebut for me in this, has a good draw in 3 to get a prominent position and stays 7f well so no problem getting home over this stiff 6f. Placed on both runs here, ran well on seasonal reappearance and handles fast ground. Has become a little hard to win with but should be thereabouts and should be able to trade out in-running, hopefully at odds-on. Currently 7.0.

English racing has not gone well, so taking my limited knowledge of South African racing to try an find a winner

5:30 Greville - OI BRASIL - Form looks decent enough and looks fair value at 14's.

Last couple of runs suggest he should be a little higher in the h/cap.
Still poorly treated but in form.

Got detached but stayed on really well. Extra 1f and price makes her a bet.

Well done Samoan with Spirit Of Oakdale.

Cavatie ran ok, but was annoyed he delayed his effort so late and he had recently beaten the winner.

Cheers for that one Beamer. Bit like my bet on Saturday night, when the race is ripe for an EW bet and gives an opportunity for a big priced forecast. I have had a dabble on SIENNA BLUE and added NAPOLEANS MISTRESS and DARK SPIRIT for the combo forecast. Preference would be for the latter, as I doubt this was the plan for the Henderson runner and he will do well to get involved as a 4yo carrying the extra weight.

Sienna Blue was awful. I thought she could threaten a place and I can't use the 3rd/ h/cap next excuse.

When I have time I will take another look at both races.
