Last one finished 5th at 6/1. I'll tally this thread up over the next few days but I'm playing again today.

Not many races grab my attention today but two that do are the last two at Wolverhampton so I just have to hope that there are no non runners as they both only have eight runners.

Decent winner and a place recently but there's no doubt that I'm going to have to be more selective in my races in order to turn a profit. To than end, I'm going to concentrate on what I think are the likeliest to return at least a place.

240 Wetherby today.

8 runner handicap chase over 2 miles.

Plenty of inpoderables. Not only does my horse not usually run well fresh (which it is today) but it's also drifting in the market (currently 13/2 vc and paddy power).

Not a great deal to fill you with confidence really is there

but before you shake your head and walk away, hear me out. The jock today gets on well with the horse (and the 5lb claim will do no harm either) but the main reason is that Wetherby is a stiff track that not all horses can handle. This horse has ran four times there and has won four times there so I'm going to put the negatives aside and go for

Polar Gunner 6pts ew 13/2

Whatever the outcome, there's a likelyhood that the run will do it some good and it might be worth watching the next time out.

While I'm on the suject, keep an eye out for Fernando Torres next time out. Ran at Kempton last Sunday and may possibly have won if it had got a clear run but found trouble on the rails.

If there is money on it, get on.

Polar Gunner was in front three out but weakened badly and didn't get in the frame. As I said, it doesnt usually run well first time back after a lay off so well worth keeping an eye on next time out.

Babe Heffron looked all over a winner but Le Roi Rouge flew past it at the death with a cracking ride from Graham Lee
