Galway tip for Monday

I got this text message from one of my mates;

'tip form trainer in ireland. raise the goblet. E.way. Galway. monday. 28th July.'

I know he's had a few tips that've won in the past - he probably only tells me about the winners.

Anyone know anything about the horse that'd back this one up?

Cheers Mickey,

I'd had a look at that. Doesn't look very promising does it?

I thought it looked okay at first glance. I'm waiting for the experts though.

Re: Galway tip for Monday

You'll be waiting a long time then Mickey

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole on Monday to be honest. Second race for a new trainer who has entered it for three races at the Galway festival.

Two of them are at 2 miles so he's obviously seen something that makes him fancy a crack at that trip which it's unproven over. The third one is on Wednesday and is at 1 mile 4 which it is proven over.

Obviously the trainer knows best but I'd be tempted to look at it if it's saved until Wednesday and runs in the 1 mile 4 race. I wouldn't risk a dime on the other two days though. Even if the connections are confident of a good run, there's enough doubt about it getting this trip to put me off.

Good luck with that Selectabet, i'm off the nags for a while but did hear of a tip at work for the weekend. Buddy Holly is the name of the horse that's been mentioned. I asked where he got the tip from and he said some S.African fella in the pub. That's all i know, doesnt sound very convincing.

Re: Galway tip for Monday

Buddy Holly rang a bell with me, Kop. Not the singer! I was on it to place at Goodwood 30th May (1m2f sft) and it did quite well, finishing 2nd. My expert analysis tells me it likes it soft. Ooerrr. Or softish. Not sure that's a proper term. Here's the wee snippet from that race anyway:
Quote:
Buddy Holly came here on a hat-trick, but he was 6lb higher than when scoring at Bath last time and taking on some less exposed rivals. Up there all the way, he ran another big race, but simply met one too good for him at the weights.
Followed up with a win at Sandown, 13th June (1m2f Gd):
Quote:
Another tough looking handicap, with ten of the 17 rated within 5lb of those towards the top. BUDDY HOLLY had been going great guns on softer ground earlier in the year and he had no problems with the much faster conditions here. He also looked to have no problems with the big field and, not for the first time, relished a fight.
May as well add the last one too, 5th July Sandown (1m 2f GF):
Quote:
The ground looked a problem too for Buddy Holly, who had climbed rapidly up the ratings in the course of three good handicap wins, all of them on good ground or softer. He never looked like getting involved but can be forgiven.

Tipped by Spotlight in the Racing Post as well.

I'm on eachway at 13/2 with Laddies who are the only ones left at this price. The rest are on various odds down to 5s.

Good luck all and ta for the tip selectabet.
