Some decent stuff at Goodwood today and the two listed races are of interest.
Dandy Nicholls has his usual strong hand in the sprints with two of the five runners, including favourite Tax Free, but I like Corridor Creeper for Milton Bradley in the 2.40. A winner last time out, he has tasted success over C&D in the past and we also know he handles the softer conditions (won 4 times with some cut in the ground). Could have too much for the considerably less experienced Tax Free and would be surprising if he finished behind Fire Up The Band considering he is in receipt of 7lb (rated 1lb higher). There is still a bit of 3/1 available and that represents a decent price.
In the Heron Stakes (3.15), Final Verse is a worthy favourite following his running on 6th in the Guineas and that should have put him spot on for today (that was his seasonal debut). His is short enough however, 4/11, and I'll take a chance on Red Somerset at around 6/1. He was slowly away in a decent Newmarket maiden on his debut and did well to be beaten only 6l by Secret World- he could be pretty smart. Dwelling in the stalls on his next, and final start, Red Somerset did very well do put away some decent rivals at Kempton over 1m and if breaking better today, could cause the favourite some problems. Richard Hannon has his horses in great shape and Richard Hughes is also on top of his game at the moment. A shame the race has just 7 runners for each way purposes but I'll take a chance.
2.40: Corridor Creeper @ 3/1- 2pt win
3.15: Red Somerset @ 6/1- 1pt win
