In this 14f race full of low class exposed stayers Toss The Caber stands out as being potentially better than his handicap rating.

Only tried up to 11f so far on the flat, this 4yo gelding was galvanized when sent hurdling, notably running Patxaran to half a length, conceding 9lbs. Has had a flat run 3 weeks ago and was dropped a further 2lb to [55].

RP tissue of 12/1 looks big.

Pearly King makes the journey from Newmarket to Redcar on Thursday and merits the closest inspection in the Jacksons-CPL Solicitors Amigos Handicap.

Sir Michael Stoute's charge is the least experienced runner in the field but the manner of his victory at Yarmouth last month suggested there was a lot more in his locker.

He was ridden by Kieren Fallon that day and the former champion jockey put the race beyond doubt with a surge two furlongs from home and the winning margin could have been in double figures.

That race was over a mile against horses who had a fair bit more experience than just his one start and the step up to 10 furlongs is expected to suit even more.

It is notable that Stoute has sent him straight into handicap company and he is probably a Listed horse in a handicap
