Re: Grand National preview

Thank you Seen for a very good read and a shortlist too. I think I'll have Jack High E/W what with the poker connection.

Re: Grand National preview

Unless betfair want to give me a free tenner to donk off on others (they gave me free money randomly on the golf last weekend) then its these 2 for me.

Point Barrow 11/1
Dun Doire 22/1

If one of Seens longshots wins then Ill be kicking myself

Re: Grand National preview

After much thought I've settled on two. They both have to buck a trend or two though. BILLYVODDAN & L'AMI. Both are 20/1 or more. Both are at least 6.0 to place on b/f.

On a totally different subject, here's a reminder of the Gold Cup results

1st Kauto Star (Bred in France)
2nd Exotic Dancer (Bred in France)
3rd Turpin Green (Bred in Ireland)
4th Monkerhostin (Bred in France)

All these stats can be very useful if you want to narrow down a handful of selections but anyone who chooses to totally disregard a fancy because of previous stats is a prize tool.

Re: Grand National preview

I hope L'ami wins then you can shove your French bred stats for good. If a French Bred horse is good enough to finish second then it's not that difficult to imagine that one could win it.

Anyway, enough of talking to myself. I've got things to do.

The Gold Cup is over 3m 2f, so the demands on stamina are considerably less that the gruelling 4m 4f Grand National trip.

I agree with what you say about stats only being a guide and that you should never disregard a horse purely on that (HEDGEHUNTER is a good example, he might go really close under a big weight but something with less pounds to carry should be too quick for him late on) but the French bred stat in the National is looking pretty strong and there is logical reasoning behind it.
