Crash bang wallop

Managed to go bust last night for the first time in 2 years of playing, in that time I've been up and down like a yoyo and thankfully I've withdrawn probably around 8k. This is the hand that put me on tilt and half an hour later I was bust, any comments? I knew I was taking a major gamble with AK but decided it was a gamble worth taking, seems I was wrong!

Re: Crash bang wallop

tough one six handed ed. Not sure if you had any reads on the guy. Thing is that AKo is not a really big favourite against any hands. Its in good shape against any ace with a weaker kicker, reasonably ahead of 2 other non-paired cards, a bit behind smaller pairs and in big trouble against KK and fooked against AA.

The initial raise from fchr could be quite a wide range of hands and your re-raise there makes sense. The problem is that your re-raise (which I like) provokes a big re-raise. At this stage I think you have to rule out non-pair hands without an ace, and almost certainly AQ, AJ etc. I also very much doubt you're going to be against anything less than JJ here. And against a good player, most usually just AA or KK

With those hands he's not going to fold, so you're now behind and needing help. Not a good time to be putting more money in the pot.

Re: Crash bang wallop

Aye cheers doc. Obviously when he reraised I was thinking AA KK but already had my mind made up before that that I was sticking with it. When I seen QQ I was delighted I suppose, 5 cards to come and plenty outs. Aw well, as Arnie would say ......

I know the feeling , and if anyone was looking for a definition of tilt - this epitomises it...........

hard lines sid, its only in hindsight that the all in looks a rush of blood to the head.

Re: Crash bang wallop

Never had any read at all spacecat, I had taken a couple of big hits on other tables, I had almost exactly 400 left so I sat down here with the lot. This hand was only the second or third hand so no reads on anyone, big time tilt, simple as that, I seen AK and decided I wanted all my money in the middle for a gamble, silly now in hindsight but there yi go.

Re: Crash bang wallop

Hi Ed

I'll just repeat what I said on msn to you. This whole hand is fine if you have the roll for it. it's good for metagame and is perfectly standard at 2/4. The only minor thing i'd say is i'd make the 3 bet around 45ish (pot).
