Tricky Turn With JJ - What's The Plan??

Can't give too many reads here. Pre-flop is standard for me, as is the flop (comments welcome though).

What is the best turn play here? (It seemed all options seem to suck a fair bit)

Note Stack sizes.

No IQ poker Lobos 0.50/1, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker

Button ($110.75)
SB Hero ($134.65)
BB ($20)
UTG ($90.50)
UTG+1 ($72.15)
MP ($57.90)
CO-1 ($32.05)
CO ($51.85)

Preflop: Hero is in the SB with J J
2 folds, MP calls 1, CO-1 calls 1, CO calls 1, Button calls 1, Hero calls 0.50, BB checks.

Flop (6.00) 9 3 6
Hero bets 5, 1 fold, MP calls 5, CO-1 calls 5, 1 fold, Button calls 5.

Turn (26.00) 6
Hero....?

Re: Tricky Turn With JJ - What's The Plan??

I can totally see why you posted that.

Against 1 caller its an obvious turn bet, against 2 opponents its about worth another bet I think but 3 hmm that could be trouble.

Either check or bet 20 here if you do bet. Some players would make some sort of $10 sized bet here to 'see where they are' but I totally disagree cos people will just call on draws and you wont be any the wiser as to where you are anyway and youre oop.

Id check here if im honest. Out of 3 of them 1 could easily have called with 2nd pair and made trips or slowplayed a set and made a FH or slowplayed 2 pair (like a real donk) and made a FH as well. If you do bet its very likely youll get called anyway somewhere and half the decks a card I dont wana see. Unless you have a great hand you almost always want there to be a good % chance everyone folds when you make a bet, I totally get the feeling if I bet here thats rarely gona result in a fold/fold/fold.

You give away the pot sometimes but you save yourself a fair bit a lot of times. I quite often end up checking in marginal spots multiway with top pair and such out of position and then find a bet and raise behind me etc then its an easy fold and it makes you feel good about yourself. I think a lot of times when youre out of positon in the blinds its best just to get real cautious with dodgy hands. Checking something multiway can reveal a lot sometimes.

Im not necessarily check/folding here though may I add, it depends what they do.

Yeah, I did think about the 20. Would be standard heads-up or even 3 handed but here I did check. Then this:

Turn (26.00) 6
Hero checks, MP checks, CO-1 bets 4, Button calls 4, Hero......??

Hmm, comments?

Re: Tricky Turn With JJ - What's The Plan??

Afternoon Scottie

Well I have one on a boat for sure, most likely CO-1. I dont think you are good to raise here because they both arent worried about 2 draws.

I would be quite happy to chuck although if you think you have some kind of implied odds from hitting a J from CO-1 then putting 4 into that pot is hardly any harm. If so then its a call. You will have an easy fold if it doesnt come anyway

Re: Tricky Turn With JJ - What's The Plan??

hmm.. IMO you played this horribly preflop - you should have isolated as you are gonna be oop postflop.

its either an insta fold on the turn or a raise to 25ish to see where you are at..price out the flushchasers and hope your overpair is good.

Re: Tricky Turn With JJ - What's The Plan??

Took the words out of my mouth Alex, I did raise to 17 and all folded.

There's been a lot of debate of playing JJ from the blinds/UTG in a cash game and I simply hate raising with them from these positions 8max or full ring.
