A weird spot with TT on 5/10 shorthanded

Hi,

Just played this hand two mins ago.

The villian in this hand I have never seen or played with before. This was on my big blind on my very first hand at the table. Villan has a stack of 2700 dollars and I have sat with the max as always which is 1000 dollars.

Folded to villian on the button, he makes it 90 to play (lol I mean wtf thats a crazy pot opener??). Sb folds and I have TT. I strongly considered RR here but I just called.

Flop 458 with two hearts.

I bet the pot (185) and he calls.

Turn Qclubs

I check and he checks

River 6 (non heart)

I check and he bets 400 into 555.

Call or Fold?

Re: A weird spot with TT on 5/10 shorthanded

If its at Interpoker its a call... My experience tells me that you always win the first hand playing there... No matter if you have AA or 93o

Besides that i have no idea at all..

He could have JJ or 99... and rarely TT... Fearing the Q, since he checked that as well... And then betting couse you didnt show strength when that arrived... But he could also have hit 2 pair, if he was just trying to steal the pot pre flop..

In the situation you are in right now.. I have tried to calculate the $ down to the amount i play.. And i think i would fold it...

If i had this hand, i would have RR preflop to see where im at..

I'd fold this one - you might have a winning hand there but I saw lots of players making such weird raises with AA or KK - simply because they want to look suspicious in your eyes () and get reraised.

He could show 77/78 here, however his line is strange and his slightly overpot bet is suspect.

Snap call w/ clenched fist pump action

Re: A weird spot with TT on 5/10 shorthanded

I've been calling these the last few months always seem to come up against a higher pocket pair. I'd put him on JJ.

But he could be making a play for the pot with AK / AJ. Not putting him on AQ at all. Maybe 99.

I say fold. His range is too big. I reackon he could have made that big raise preflop with a pocket pair and flopped trips, or made his stright on the end.

In real life I'd probably donk it off though. I assume you called?

Re: A weird spot with TT on 5/10 shorthanded

I call
In the absence of any other information, I'll take the big stack as the sign of an aggressive player. The very big raise doesn't want company IMO. He has something, but quite possibly a small ace or two high cards
He calls your bet on the turn, so he probably hit the flop, but an aggressive (and/or loose) player could just call here with overcards. Flush draw is a possibility too.
No bet on the turn indicates that he probably doesn't have much. The queen either scared him or he is scared of a check raise.
It is not a massive bet on the river, so you only need to win about 30% of the time to justify the call. I think he'll turn over A4, A8 etc often enough to make it worthwhile

Re: A weird spot with TT on 5/10 shorthanded

Well its either a bluff or a hand you cant beat, anything you beat there he checks.

So you have to decide wether that is a bluff and there is no way you can know for sure wether he has the straight or not, 2/1 isn't a bad price your getting, 66 and 77 could be plausible hands here as well, the weird re raise with the small pair and then calling on that low flop.

I would actually fold.

For 400 into 555 I guess I call it cos those odds arent bad and it doesnt make any sense really. Hate it though. If he bet 500+ or 600 like I thought originally then meh (thus why I didnt bother replying earlier before you edited it ) but for 400 I reckon its worth a look even if it is dodgy.
