Re: A bit of a strange position with 33
Hi Everyone,
Well my read at this moment (Which you can see my thought process on arriving at on the other streets) is that he could well have a bigger boat but there is a fair chance that in his eyes I am bluffing/have a very weak hand and he is just trying to rebluff me with two high cards that missed. This is a pretty small bet for the size of the pot and I have to at least call it given my read. The option is to put a tiny (probably minimum) check raise in here. This is NOT for "value" (hoping he calls it with a worse hand) as I think that practically never happens here. It is to merely invite a bigger rebluff from him (a rereraise all in or something). The problem with this here is that I feel his range is weighted so strongly towards either a monster or a total bluff that I think this play is -EV in the long run. It would be horrid to set up a bluff from him and then fold to it so if I do this play I must call if he reraises. I feel if he reraises all in then its going to be the bigger full or quads 90% of the time and a rebluff only 10% thus I lose in the long run. So I chose to just call. Here is the end of the hand history ----- RIVER ----- [8d Js 4c 3d][8s] HERO: checks VILLIAN: bets £20 HERO: calls £20 ----- SHOW DOWN ----- VILLIAN: shows [Ac 9h] (A Pair of Eights, Ace high) HERO: shows [3s 3c] (A Full House, Threes full of Eights) HERO collected £92 from Main pot. I am sorry you thought my line and reads sucked so much alex, that is what I put these threads up for (to generate discussion on how best to play in marginal spots etc). So cheers for your input, I like having a lot of discussion on hands like this. Jez |
