Spacecats Greyhound Lays

As I've often mentioned to anybody who will listen, liquidity on the dogs is non existent until 5 minutes before the off, which is a total nightmare for punting reasons if you arent likely to be around to watch your money go down.

Thankfully theres Betfair software available to help ease some of the pressure to greyhound punters stress levels, though setting up these programs to place bets at certain stakes and times is easy, its alot harder to predict what price youll be taking.

I use BetTraderPro, its free to use normally and you can unlock dozens of extra features for a few quid, which I've done. I can leave the computer on during the day and itll place bets for me a minute or two before the off, which is when I'm likely to get a realistic price.

The problem is of course the price (pushing aside the obvious problem of actually picking the mutts), so I can only best guess it, the easiest way to do that quickly is to use the RP's guide prices. Now these can be all over the place, but their guide price favorite is usually fairly strong in the betting, as are those they tip to win on their form pages, which are IMO the best on the net (and free).

I lay dogs (oo-errr), usually those who are likely to trap slowly and cant compete with the early boys even with a clear run. I'll be picking dogs that the RP put in as their guide favorite, to try and avoid getting mental prices when I cant stop the computer laying them for me!

So I'll pick a few dogs tonight and set the machine up to lay them to win £5 each, liabilities could be anything!

Anybody else lay the greyhounds and want to join in? We could have a mystery price competition to see who judges the markets the worst

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

It's all a bit above me Spacecat but it sounds interesting. When i used to back the dogs saturday morning whilst getting my football coupon together i would always be looking for a good trapper. Ah your laying dogs that can be poor trappers. What sort of prices would you be getting? I quite like the idea of inputting a few selections into a machine and for it to 'do its magic' and i get to see a cash sum total. Soz just arguing with my brother then.

aye i would be interested in seeing how all this pans out spacecat. soz for shit posting over your interesting thread.

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

No worries komp, it happens when outsiders (aka non boring old shitestains) of the online greyhound punting community get involved in these things, in a few posts we'll all be going over season dates and Crayfords new drainage system fucking with ladbrokes trap challenge prices

We're going at a great pace already, I've even found my first bet for tomorrow...

Hall Green 12.18 T4 - RP Nap for some reason, needs to break faster than it ever has before or itll never see the daylight it needs. It's not in bad form but the grade hike is far too much, the winner will come from elsewhere. It needs to be wide, its in the middle, the outsiders will take all of tis running room early, no hope in my book, should get a fair price for it too. I'll make it my NAP too, just to make it a match bet with the Racing Post

Fridays are the BAGS day of the week for me, 4 cracking meetings in the morning and afternoon, so there will be a few more to come.

Komp I rarely see you mention Betfair on this site, you must have an active account with them, google BetTraderPro and have a look at it. It was really exciting for me at first having no control over the bets going in, the only thing thatd stop it is the net connection going down or the computer going off, if youre out the house then its just a case of wait and see. Makes you feel all professional too, thinking that the programs doing the the legwork while youre down the jobcenter sorting your crisis loan out, cant help but think to yourself 'this program will come in dead handy when I'm sipping my GnT's by the pool in barbados next year'.

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

HALL GREEN T3 1.19 - Purely because the RP have given it a guide price of 5/2, I think itll find trouble, that simple. Its a value bet should you get anything under 4.5 for it, which I expect to do. I expect the winner to come from traps 1, 5 or 6, so if I set the program to not lay over 4.5 I'm satisfied with my chances.

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

HALL GREEN T6 1.33 - I'm getting a bit worried about what I'm seeing here, too many selections almost already, but this one is bizarre from the post. The dog has only ever put in times it needs to be competitive here when leading and its by no means the fastest starter, yet the post rate it as the 5/2 fav with the comment 'the one to beat' ... it needs to make the first bend infront and it needs trouble behind. I cant see it and will take any price below 4.5 again. Even if there turns out to be a trap bias of any kind I'll let the bet run.

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

WALTHAMSTOW T5 11,57 - Again a non trapper who needs it to be competitive, theres alot of early pace in this race and the last time the dog put in a decent effort it was in a grade lower. Again the Racing Post say "Would be a potent threat if coming away on terms" What the hell does that mean? Thats like previewing a football game by saying "Berwick would be a potent threat if they took a 2 goal lead". Not for me, a recent poor trial time tells me its for the downgrade after this, if the RP odds man wanted 5/2 from me he could have it all day. I'll set this up to lay at any price, no 4.5 limits 'ere

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

Ok. I think that'll do it for tomorrow, I'll check for non runners in the morning and set the thing up, will be interesting to see what prices I get matched at..

WALTHAMSTOW 11.57- T5.. £5
HALL GREEN 12.18- T4.. £10 <- we'll go for a tenner here just because its the Racing Post NAP of the meeting.
HALL GREEN 1.19- T3.. £5
HALL GREEN 1.33- T6.. £5

Anybody want to add some selections for the racing tomorrow?

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

WALTHAMSTOW 11.57- T5.. £5 - LOST @4.1, trapped better than forecast but wasnt strong enough, best run of my 4 today. Got a good price there considering it went off at 3/1.

HALL GREEN 12.18- T4.. £10 -LOST @3.1, shocking run, went round in last place, the RP mustve had a bundle down on it to catch the mugs money. A bookies NAP, we'll see them everyday on this topic.

HALL GREEN 1.19- T3.. £5 - LOST, nowhere.
HALL GREEN 1.33- T6.. £5 - LOST, nowhere again at any stage

Profit of 23.75 today from those 4. Despite all the racing this afternoon I couldnt see any other races that suited me tbh!

More again tomorrow folks

Re: Spacecats Greyhound Lays

ROMFORD 12.17 T5 LAY.£10. LOST @ 4.1.. Finished nowhere.
SITTINGBOURNE 7.52 T5 LAY. £5. LOST @ 5.1..As above.

Daily Total after commission: +14.25
Overall Total: +38.00

More again later folks Could potentially get about half a dozen more selections a day by increasing the odds to guess for upto 7.0, but we aint there yet and its harder to get away with.

Pishcraic tomorrow, can only find one bet.

KINSLEY 4.46 T5 LAY £5 - even this one isnt a dead cert to lose, as theres only 3 dangers in the race as opposed to the 4 in the selections above.

Poor day for it, Monday should be much better.

KINSLEY 4.46 T5 LAY £5. LOST @ 5.2.. Ran well, finished 2nd and had both bad/good luck in running, left myself scratching my head when trying to watch the race as I swore it was the 5.11 I laid the 5 in but the stats didnt add up on the in shop paper! It lost too.
