Dubai Classic: Final Round

Just looking at the odds on offer here as well and the player that stands out at a decent price is Lee Westwood @ 12.5

He's been ultra consistent over his last 6 tournaments: 5/T2/T2/3/61/1

great form there, especially the Middle East swing part , with a T2 and last week's 5th place behind Adam Scott.

He's playing the back 9 strongly so even with a slowish start we can expect him to come with a late rattle.
Three shots behind Els, 1 shot ahead of Woods....that's why the price is so high...Woods still in with a shout.

I feel this is a falsely weighted book regards Westwood and so has to be taken on.

Westwood is paired with McDoweel , which I think will help them both, while Woods is 3 pairings behind, thus giving Westwood time to respond to any move by him. He'll have Els in his sights as well....so overall there's is a lot to like about him putting pressure on those around if he can keep his from today....and no reason, or recent evidence , to suggest he wont.

Also...
Kaymer @ 50.00...massive prive to 'back to lay'.....won 2 weeks ago in Abu Dhabi with a wire to wire win. The usual 'bad bounce' after a win hit him last week with a T98th, but he's got back on track here. Brilliant prospect for the future Tour.

Finally....David Frost @ 830.00..back to lay front 90

This is a great fun bet to 'back and lay' over the front 9. He's the type of guy who is more than capable of running up a sucession of birdies as he showed yesterday with birdie/birdie/birdie
...and in the 2nd rnd with par/eagle/birdie.....

making him -7 for the opening 3 holes....so if he can get to at least -8 by the time he walks off the 3rd you can be sure he'll be a lot less than 830!!...it doesnt need a lot to get involved with this, and it has chances of being decent.

Re: Dubai Classic: Final Round

Haha, nice Eddy, my two picks as well...posted this last night on me golf thread(TDP Members betting records):

Decent round from McDowell - into 3rd and 30s.

So a quick rundown of the runners and riders:

Will start by saying that given the experience at the top of the leaderboard, I don't think any of the player well off the pace(-6 and worse) can make a charge to win.

That said, everyone has their price and Broadhurst looks the only puntable prospect from that bunch. He has had his sloppy moments, including a triple bogey, but is perfectly capable of cutting that out and if he does could have an outside chance. Deffo worth a nibble @ 700.

Tiger could easily hunt down these leaders but after a sparkling first round he's not looked comfortable. Ever strong mental game just doesn't look to be tuned in tho his price isnt as bad as i'd have expected and I may keep him onside.

McGrane's mental game isn't there I fear - too many big names in there for him to cope.

Kaymer I like - when he's on song he can really motor and this week he hasn't looked troubled at all - a couple of early birdies and he could be right back in the mix.

Kapur nope - see McGrane.

Hedblom = headcase - as shown today will self destruct in this company if he gets anywhere near the front.

Garcia just can't seem to sort his head out this week - one minute brilliant, the next woeful. Not this time IMO.

McDowell I still quite like, but already have. That'll do for him.

Stenson doesn't look like he's reacting well to pressure this week. When he has momentum he seems unstoppable, but all it will take is one birdie tomorrow and it could be round over.

Els - not to be trusted these days. Could tear the course up again and win this by a mile but with the class in the chasing pack he's got to overcome a demon or two to do it. Not at that price for me.

Westwood - the only one of the big names I like. He's inconsistent, but since he's a bit off the pace that's whats needed here, and has looked confident all week.

Sooooooooooooooo...........

2pts Westwood @ 13.00
0.5pts Kaymer @ 60
0.5pts Tiger(saver) @ 5.7
0.2pts Broadhurst @ 700
Good luck us!

Great minds think alike!...seriously didn't read your posts there!!

......I couldn't see Woods getting back in to it so you were spot on with that. Kaymer was unlucky ...he is great star of the future and those odds were a gift to trade today.

Well done, Beanie.

Westwood beat Garcia so I got a treble up on the 72 hole matchers...not all bad.
