Right then, bet time.
I know I shouldn't bother as I'm only doing it to brighten the days as I'll be laid up in bed rather than away for a piss up and football tournament with my team in Leeds, but gotta occupy myself somehow(and with swollen nads, the obvious pleasures are well out the equation )

Re: The Open Golf Championship
Good luck chaps and watch out tonight for the match bets for tomorrow.#
EDIT: I'll add any match bets for today but due to kick off times we will have to say that you have from now to midday to mention any match starting after midday. As mentioned before i'll have tommorrows match bets available to you all tonight before tomorrows play. Also the book on this will reopen with updated odds from about 19:00hrs onwards

Re: The Open Golf Championship
Bet365 offering prices on the first round score..
over 66 ...6/1
under 66....11/4
exactly 66...2/5
I think there is very good value in taking both over and exactly...
course record is 63...plus, that wind isn't going to lessen...
Woods is playing well and could hit lower than 66 quite easily , but for me a small punt looks good on it not happening
Still more people to tee off, but I think we will see the leading round form those out now.

5pts E/W Jim Furyk 40.0 Betfair
5pts E/W Davis Love III 40.0 Betfair

Obviously those prices were in the wrong order!!
Exactly 66 was 11/4...under was 2/5......and at the moment that 11/4 looks safe..bugger birdies the last to screw my 'over 66'..but I'm not complaining.
Mr Chips...that's a nice bet on Woods as he won't be near that price again if he plays as he has today.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
Looks safe eddy.
Think there is plenty to think about for tomorrow.
I'll be especially looking out for the players hidden in the pack who have played well in the slightly tougher conditions of this afternoon.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
I'm pleased with the start to week re my bets. Here is the Day 1 report.
Michael Campbell - 69
beat
Thomas Bjorn - 72
Just discovered this was in fact an 18 hole matchup and not 72 holes as I thought when I put the bet on, so that's one landed. This mix up was down to Expekt's website which must have had 18 hole and 72 hole matchups intermingled as they were all in together on Monday night. Never seen 18 hole matchups at this stage of a tournament before when the players are out in 3 balls. Not complaining though.
Michael Campbell - 69
leads
Angel Cabrera - 75
Adam Scott - 70
leads
Lee Westwood - 76
Graeme McDowell - 69
trails
Trevor Immelman - 68
McDowell trails by a shot, while in the other 2 matchups, my guys both have a 6 shot advantage after Round 1. Long way to go though.
Hope nobody was on Casey who was beaten by 3 shots by Greg Norman.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
.GIF) Good stuff Para.
I could do with a little progress from Clarke and the like, but a mixed bag overall.
Traded off quite a few of my long odds ones like Lawrie/Faxon for break even as they were'nt showing too much.
Still got Campbell, Jimenez, Hensby and McDowell running tho. Tried to get rid of my Hensby bet for what I backed him at when he was at par, with no takers, so let it ride, and lo and behold he went on the charge on the back 9 and is in to 20s.
Added a little on Poulter too who started to settle in the back 9.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
By the way Para, or anyone who fancies lending a little advice.
Im thinking what to do with a few of the big priced win bets that are showing a little promise. With 4 or 5 nicely placed to do something tomorrow, there's always the potential for a nice lay tomorrow or at the weekend, or even the chance to get rich come sunday night.
However, there's also a decent chance that if Tiger rumbles round in -5 or -6 again tomorrow, then all the decent profit potential will be lost even if a few of the players improve by a few shots.
Not keen to lay off now though for a poxy profit, so I think its a case of sitting with fingers and everything else crossed through tomorrow.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
Campbell is now on offer to back on betfair at 44.00 (46.00 beiong asked for) from 75.00 which would yield about a 48% profit on the stake in a trade off but as you say Beanie, unless anybody is in for big bucks on a longshot (certainly not me) the yield would be very small so best to let the bets run for now. I also see Adam Scott despite a very good score of 70 has drifted by about 5pts on betfair.
There is certainly an increasing danger that Tiger could repeat his showing here in 2000 and open up a fair old gap with another 66 or thereabouts but if that happens I'll just have to hope my matchups come in for a nice return. If Tiger has an off day and our guys put in a good show, their odds will come crashing down and you might need your toes as well as your fingers to work out the tactics for Saturday
If one (or more) of your longshots is/are in with a realistic chance of winning, after 3 rounds the odds will be no more than around 14/1, maybe less and a lay off of some sort then is a must to at least cover your stakes.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
Aye, gonna be a good day tomorrow.
Gonna go have a look through the 3balls for tomorrow and see if there's anything to be had based on today.

Re: The Open Golf Championship
catching some of the play in between classes here:
Els should be a lot lower in his round..bit unlucky, but not showing that 'edge' yet..still in a nice position with more to come from him...huge price this morning before teeing off and easy to lay now
Mickelson looking good..ominously so
Woods still has to negotiate the 18 holes, so if someone can post a -7 at least then the pressure will be on...lots more bunkers being found today as far as I know..weather predicted to pick up...all in all it's turning into a great spectacle
managed to get EVS about Clarke hitting a 70 or more while he was approaching the 15th green..........fingers crossed...I think the pricing of this market is a good one to play against as you're dealing with another person's judgement on evidence that is unfolding in real time...mistakes will be made and prices stolen!
