Hong Kong Open
What are people's thoughts on this?
Obviously you have to look at Westwood and Mcilroy but at something like 10s and 11s I don't think there's any value there. I'm discounting Poults because he was awful at the HSBC and is suffering from a chest infection. So the 3 players I'm looking at: Francesco Molinari - Just keeps getting better and better, driving well and when he starts putting well, he'll be hitting 4 rounds in the 60s for sure. Came 3rd last year, a definite contender and a decent price at 18/1 I think. Oliver Wilson - Played badly at HSBC but apparently this was due to jet lag and a pro-am being scheduled close to it. Likes the fastness of the course, should do well this week. Minimum top 5 finish. But this could be his time for a win, he seems confident. Nice odds of 30/1. Simon Dyson - This is my least likely of the three, been playing well all year, has he come one last big performance left in his season? Not so sure but I'll have a look at him for 28/1 probably. |

Re: Hong Kong Open
Gone for Bradley Dredge at 56 and Jacquelin at 101 myself to finish top 5 with bet365.

Re: Hong Kong Open
Dredge's odds to finish in the top 5 are 8/1 and Jacquelin's are 14/1.
If you go each way on Dredge you'd effectively get 13/1 on a top 5 finish as 1/4 odds pays top 5. And for Jacquelin you'd get 24/1 for finishing in the top 5 for an each way bet. |

Re: Hong Kong Open
Well, Wilson played fucking terribly, he doesn't seem to get it sometimes.
Still, 2 out of the 3 picks are in the top 10, have to hope for Bourdy to crumble but I can't see it happening. Would be nice to get to in the top 5 for two 1/4 payouts though. |

Re: Hong Kong Open
If you'd had £5 e/w on the Hong Kong selection you would have incurred a loss of £7 so no disaster.
For the season ender I've got 3 picks again: Ross Fisher - 20/1. Played so, so well at the Volvo Matchplay in hot temperatures so dealing with the Dubai heat won't be a problem. Fisher is so long and straight off the tee, the length of the course will play to his strengths, I expect a good performance from him either way and if he goes into the final round 2 or 3 shots off the leader, I'd expect him to win. Henrik Stenson - 20/1. Looked like a world beater at TPC Sawgrass and he may well regain his form for this event, based in Dubai which is always a big plus and will have had more practice on the course than others. Charl Schwartzel - 40/1. The more I see of this kid the more impressed I am with how he plays and how he deals with pressure, could really spring a surprise, particularly if he gets off to a fast start, something he likes to do. I refuse to believe no one on this whole forum doesn't bet on golf, so come on, where's your money? |

Re: Hong Kong Open
I've also gone for Stenson at 21,
Jacquelin again at 101 (made a nice little profit from him at Hong Kong) Allenby at 51 and Els at 17 |
