Length over accuracy
The European golf tour heads to sweden this week for the SAS Masters where Peter Hanson will defend his crown albeit this year on a different course. The SAS Masters this year will be played on the monster Barseback GC which plays over 7,650 yards long which means the longer hitters have quite an advantage here. The course is quite exposed although many holes wind through woodland. The rough is fair, strategically placed and redone bunkers line the course. The greens are flat and slick enough. Home nations advantage may also be a big factor here so watch out for a scandinavian dominated leaderboard. SAS masters golf picks: -0.5pts E/W Johan Edfors @ 40/1(bluesquare) Massive hitter, 75% GIR and home advantage coming off the back of a decent British Open. Good value price. Has gone low on this course before -0.5pts E/W Thomas Aiken @ 40/1(ladbrokes) BIG talent performed well in the British Open and won't be long before his breakthrough win on the European Tour after 7/14 top 10's and here and 9 wins over on the sunshine tour. Massive talent if a bit erratic but power play and shot making is needed on this course. -1pt E/W Peter Hanson E/W @ 20/1(bet365) Defending champion, 24th last week and with home advantage. Defends the SAS masters this week on a different course in Barseback but a course he lives only 20 minutes from and has a 2nd place finish here before. He says he's pretty tired but expects the fans and adrenaline to get him through -0.5pts E/W Alexander noren E/W @ 66/1 (stanjames) Immense talent and yet another with home advantage. Struggled with injuries this year but starting to get a bit of momentum up. Too big a price to pass up on a course right up the big hitter's alley. Also keep an eye out for fellow swede Frederick andersen Hed and Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal if you fancy rank outsiders. homer Hed is in good form and Larrazabal(although not in good form hence the big price ) may relish the driving holes here.. top 20 finishes may be a good bet Mods please remove link if not allowed.
