Re: Verizon Heritage

Fella in the RFO pub Basher fancies Aaron Baddeley. He reckons that people with AA and BB in their names have a great record at the course. He says that the course has really small greens and precision rather than power is the way to go in this one. Putting is tricky too. Baddleley not only has AA and BB in his name but also he has the 2nd best recent record at the course. He won it in 2006, 10th in 2007 and runner up last year. He ranks 4th in the 'putts per green' list and after a slow start to the season he maybe ready to challenge. 25/1 he is.

the fav Furyk boosts a 2 runner up spots and a 4th in his last 4 visits to the course. . Leonard has good form at the course too.

Re: Verizon Heritage

On Baddeley,Course knowledge and obviously has a good record in this event is a plus, hes 2nd in 2008 in this event was hes only highlight that year and started 2009 poorly but made a decent enough show in the Masters finishing 17th,but even then only two of hes rounds were under par.Hes stats for 2008 and 2009 dont make great reading when it comes to the driver and greens in regulation its pretty poor but I see that the putters very hot,He has chance on his record, but at 26's hes hardly a good betting proposition with only two career wins, and what of Boo Weekley he is a back to back winner of this event and is quoted at eight spots more.

Re: Verizon Heritage

Hi everybody good to see that the Verizon has captured some inagination after the Masters. Time to invest our Merrick Masters winnings.

As ever I think we are on the right lines with this tournament. Tight course so power isn't a virtue here (local knowlege is however). Conditions can be extremely heavy here, but the forecast is for light winds and only a few showers over the weekend's play.

Our Marking Your Card analysis suggests you need to live in the eastern seaboard states to contend here, so Georgia, the Carolinas and Florida.

For Mathew Goggin followers that includes him as he just moved to Charlotte Georgia! In all seriousness the links nature suits some 'coastal' Aussies like Allenby (Florida), Baddeley (Arizona) and O'Hern / Lonard (Florida)

Selection of Tips and Predictor Picks below:

Picks - Tim Clark, Jim Furyk, Kevin Na, Els & Verplank

Selected Tips
Baddeley - 25-1 William Hill - Loves this track and his new coach has sorted his swing. Short game is top notch.

Davis Love III - 45-1 Bet365 - Crazy price! His form around Harbour Town is second to none (clear our predictor variables and just weight Heritage stats and you'll see for yourself). Smarting after missing the Masters and lives just up the road on the Georgia coast.

Vaughan Taylor - 90-1 Bet365 - Streaky player but his record here is decent. Georgia boy who knows this stretch of coast well. If the real Vaughan Taylor turns up he can be at the top end of the leaderboard.

Dustin Johnson - 100-1 Bet 365 - Columbia, S Carolina boy, indeed won a junior tournament here at age 12. He's powerful yes, but has the game to win here and his local knowledge is amazing. M/C last year, but understandable as rookie at his home event and had trouble with his driver then. Take current form and the fact that Dustin had a great look at the course 6 weeks ago at a pro-am he hosted! 100-1!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to all

Icon14 Re: Verizon Heritage

Hello all

I'm back after missing my favourite event of year A 'challenging' 4 yr old daughter and hormonal 8 month pregnant missus but paid to any input from me last week, sadly. And to be honest I've not had much of a chance for a butchers this week.

BUT, enough of my problems (I can hear small violins playing in the distance )

Looking forward to this event, with hopefully some more viewing time

My initial selections this week are as follows;

Stewart Cink 33/1 e/w with Paddy Power

Previous winner here in 2000 & 2004 and I'm hoping he can make amends after missing the cut at Augusta.

Boo Weekley 28/1 e/w with Paddy Power

Not playing particularly well on the tour so far, however he has won this tournament the last two years running. Not finished higher than joint 52nd in his last 5 starts, so hopefully, his familarity with this course will breed confidence. So a small stakes, speculative punt on Booooooooo, for me.

Good luck everyone

Re: Verizon Heritage

I'll go with Kevin Na 26's,even if the price is very skinny for someone who has no tournies under hes belt, but has form recently.

Trevor Immelman 60's is a gutshot

2pts ew on each

Re: Verizon Heritage

I've backed Allenby @40, Cink @46 (winner twice here before) and I've also backed local lad Dustin Johnson @100. He lives near this course, won a junior tournament hear as a teenager and is having a good year. I've also backed Dustin @9.0 to finish in teh top 10.

Also Rory McIlroy looks sure to go well here this week and I reckon the 2.06 on offer for him to win his opening 3 ball with Nitties(WHO?) and Armour III is a steal. Armour has played 8 events and missed 4 cuts this year. Not very good.

Verdict:
Outright:
Allenby @40
Cink @46
Johnson @100

Top 10 finish: Johnson @9.0

1st rd 3 ball: McIlroy @2.06
