Re: Honda Classic

Any news on Donald's wrist injury anyone??

I had planned to back him this week although now I'm undecided as I'm not sure of the extent of the injury

Re: Honda Classic

This is all I could find Squire,im sure we will know more after the practice session.

Feb. 28, 2009
By Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM Chief of Correspondents

MARANA, Ariz. -- After experiencing discomfort in his surgically repaired wrist Friday at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and being forced to concede his third-round match against Ernie Els, Luke Donald had his wrist examined by the doctor who performed the original surgery and received good news.

Dr. Andrew Weiland, of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, examined Donald Friday night and determined that the discomfort was limited to the scar tissue, not the tendon that was repaired last year. Weiland was pleased that there was minimal swelling in the wrist and believes that treatment with anti-inflammatory medication would allow Donald to resume practicing in the next few days, and perhaps even play in next week's Honda Classic, an event he won in 2006.

"I'm obviously very pleased with Dr. Weiland's diagnosis, and while I was disappointed to have to withdraw from the Accenture Match Play Championship, I wanted to make sure I was doing what was best for my long-term health," said Donald. "I will consult with him over the coming days and certainly would love to be able to play in the Honda Classic next week, an event that means a great deal to me."

Re: Honda Classic

Tough to get too excited about many of these prices - Boo Weekley under 30/1 in this company is amazing especially given that he didnt look good at all last week.

I'll prob give Donald a miss - didn't think he looked great last week and with the doubts over the wrist I wont be on him this week.

Leonard played well last week - only beaten by a red hot Fisher, Camilo was unbelievable for 2 rounds before slowing up v Ogilvy, Shingo could and prob should have beaten Ogilvy and so 300 looks very big(unless im missing an injury or something there...), could be interested in Els too - wasnt expecting to be as I thought he might be bet into favourite on the back of his performance last week, but at 16/1 the defending champ is surely worth a look, Allenby should also be good on this course, altho I doubt his ability as a final day closer. De Jonge should go close soon but without much better than 100/1 about looks a bit tough to back.

Anyway, thats just a few quick thoughts, hopefully get a chance to look more closely later on.

Re: Honda Classic

Mark Wilson worth a good look too - thought he would be 50/1 or worse. His win last week was impressive and he controlled his nerves well(even though the field wasnt the best) and won here 2 years ago. Admitted this week he changed his swing and things started happening, so possible that he will show further improvement this week.

Evening folks,

Apologies but I haven't got much time for any sort of write up or reasons for selections, so I'll just tell you straight out;

Bob Estes 75/1 1pt e/w
Camilo Villegas 13/1 2pts e/w
Justin Rose 33/1 1pt e/w

Prices with Paddy Power

Good luck all.

Re: Honda Classic

Had the shortlist down to the following...

Villegas
Els
Allenby
Leonard
Merrick
Simpson
Wilson
Klauk
De Jonge
Petterson
Coceres

Line through Leonard as in spite of his performance last week he just hasnt shown any form on this course. Taking out Webb Simpson too as he looks a little short at the price given that he is currently struggling to hit the heights that he did in the first few events of the season. That might be putting him under even more pressure.

Also removing Coceres - even at the huge price that he is for someone with perhaps the best course record, he just looks too poor at the moment.

I cant find reasons to remove any of the others...

Villegas and Els have good course form and were in great touch last week - I expected both to be shorter.

Merrick, Allenby and Petterson have all played well here on both occasions, and looked well set to do so again.

Wilson comes off a win last week and more importantly has said he tried a few new things swing wise and that they are working perfectly. On this course that could suit again.

De Jonge should win soon - and altho I was expecting far better than just 150 ish, I cant quite desert him now.

And Klauk, well thats just a hunch.

3pts Villegas @ 15 with Skybet
3pts Els @ 15 with Bet365
2pts Allenby @ 23 with Betfair
1pt Merrick @ 130
1pt Wilson @ 65
1pt Petterson @ 110
0.5pts De Jonge @ 150
0.5pts Klauk @ 200

Ernie is +3 and just made the cut.

As for an online line, you'll probably struggle Imps.

However as Beanie pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago, you can listen to XM Radio, from the official PGA website;
