HSBC Champions Tournament
Course
Opened – October 2004 Course Designer – Neil Haworth of Nelson and Haworth design. Special Features - The 16th hole and 17th holes are played over a water filled, rare quarry, which will be very much in play on the 16th for those players opting to go for the green on this short par 4. General Playability - The greens are quick and firm again this year but with slightly tougher rough so we expect the challenge to be a little tougher than in 2006. Some very strong par 3’s. Undulating/ flat - Some notable changes in elevation on a few holes otherwise only minor undulation. Tree lined/exposed - Tree lined. Many / few water hazards - Many hazards , water in play on holes 2,4,5,6,8,9,13,14,16,17 and 18. Changes to the course - We have a new tee on hole 13 this year adding some 20 yards and a new tee on hole 15 adding some 23 yards. Also the 18th tee has been moved a little to the playing right so that the tee shot is more over the water. Re: HSBC Champions Tournament
Looks like a tough week this week - the weather looks unpredictable and I've got some sort of negative against nearly every player in the field, so just a few tentative bets for just now:
Win Market 1pt Choi @ 28/1 with BetDirect - comes here off a rest and went well in 2005 and 2006. The most generously priced of the big names imo. 1pt McDowell @ 35/1 with PaddyPower - loves the wind and rain more than any other player and so with dodgy weather forecast he could be in his element. Last round at the Volvo Masters last week showed a lot of promise. 1pt Kjeldsen @ 54/1 with Betfair - Last weeks winner is the same odds here again. His change in form is down to changes in his swing which he put in a month ago, so given the change in his game it looks more than just a purple patch - big price again to repeat. 0.5pts Seung-Yul Noh @ 159/1 with Betfair - Young Korean whose results on the Asian Tour(given his age) have been phenomenal - might just relish this challenge. 0.5pts Sang-Moon Bae @ 219/1 with Betfair - Another young Korean that recently won the Korean Open, beating Poulter and Kim to take the title. Another outsider with a lively game. Place Market 2pts Kjeldsen Top 10 @ 4.30 with BetDirect 1pt Sang-Moon Bae Top 10 @ 15/1 with Betfair 1pt Seung-Yul Noh Top 10 @ 11/1 with Betfair |
