Re: Ryder Cup 2008
I agree entirely Beanie. I have very limited knowledge of the game but I could see how today's games went and I think the line ups look shocking (Poulter and Rose aside).
I did want to post to say that everyone seems to be overreacting to being 3 points down and that it could easily swing the other way today but those pairings give me no confidence whatsoever. If Europe get away anything better than 2.5 1.5 down this morning, they will surprise me. |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Ridiculous standard of golf today - Karlsson played a completely flawless back 9 tonight and still couldnt get our noses in front, he must have been about -7 for the last 9. Poulter outstanding, 48 hours and I've changed my opinion completely, and he's a key man tomorrow. McDowell and Wilson brilliant too. For the US, Leonard was head and shoulders above again, well, err, along with Mahan.
Singles Draw: 1703 Anthony Kim v Sergio Garcia 1714 Hunter Mahan v Paul Casey 1725 Robert Karlsson v Justin Leonard 1736 Phil Mickelson v Justin Rose 1747 Kenny Perry v Henrik Stenson 1758 Boo Weekley v Oliver Wilson 1809 JB Holmes v Soren Hansen 1820 Jim Furyk v Miguel Angel Jimenez 1831 Stewart Cink v Graeme McDowell 1842 Steve Stricker v Ian Poulter 1853 Ben Curtis v Lee Westwood 1904 Chad Campbell v Padraig Harrington Great draw for Europe imo, and Faldo's played that exactly right. He had 2 options, front load and hope to get early momentum, with the weaker/less experienced players hanging on to win. Back load(which he has done), hope for a few early points to keep us in there, with the big guns to bring it home. Azinger has front loaded and there's 2 reasons its great for us...a) the US have set out to win it early. Great if it goes to plan, but the pressure only builds if it doesn't, and we have a good sneak in all the first matches. b) There's no way you can rely on the less experienced players to bring it home given the atmosphere of late tomorrow...those last three matchups look superb for us if it lasts that long. Looking at that I dont think I could have scripted it better, so nuts on the chopper, I think Europe will win this. Need 7 points to retain the trophy. 5pts Europe @ 3.70 1pt Tie @ 12.50 |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Agree with that Beanie. I always thought that we'd be stronger on Day 3 so I'm more than happy with the present score in respect of my scoreline bets. Faldo hasn't let me down either. It's gonna be close this one!
As long as Lefty wins his single tomorrow, I'm also guaranteed a winner with the top 3 US scorers bet too. This Ryder Cup has been some of the best golf I've ever seen and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Even if Boooooooooooo is a prick. ![]() |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Wayne, don't see why u think Boo is a prick..playing his first ryder cup in front of a home state crowd would be hard for anyone to keep their emotions in check ... plus he was "big" enough to apologise for his over reactions yesterday as Westwood acknowledged today
Bet you've been shouting at the TV !!! Human nature |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Yeh I understand the emotions Wex and no doubt in his shoes, I'd be doing the same thing. And despite apologising for his actions which he must therefore have deemed as being wrong, he went out yesterday and did the exact same thing. I'm still waiting for today's apology.......
Anyway, to contradict myself, it's people like Boo that help build the tension, etc and make events like this thatg little bit more 'enjoyable' to watch isn't it. So through gritted teeth, I understand and can appreciate what's he's doing. It is human nature mate and as I said I'd probably be doing the same thing. But I'm a prick as well. So if I am, Boo is. ![]() |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Gonna put a treble on today based on what I've seen so far.
Westwood v Curtis - Westwoodhas to be backed against Curtis who has been awful and hit just one birdie in 2 days. Plus Lee will relish the fact that by the time his match is coming to an end, he may be setting Europe up to retain the Ryder Cup. McDowell v Cink - Cink is a great player but has looked out of sorts here. McDowell has played fantastic and showed all of his guts and determination yesterday with 2 difficult putts late on. Hansen v Holmes - Hansen is just a much better player and without Booooooo to egg him on, think Holmes could get a walloping here. 20pt Draw-No-Bet treble @ 5.58 B365 |

Re: Ryder Cup 2008
Hmmm, looked on for a little while in the middle there, all the momentum, but some of the US players were just awesome all week - the hole was like a bucket to Kenny Perry all day today, while Anthony Kim, who I thought was shaky all week, played Garcia off the course.
Regardless of picks/order etc, if your 3 top players don't deliver(no wins for Westwood, Harry, Garcia) then you're gonna be up against it. Americans much the better side and fully deserving of their win(we'll get em in 2010 tho ) |
