Verizon Heritage

Possible Joint leader - Davis Love has shot -5 and is joint leader, but can he sustain the lead,2006 and 2007 saw him finish +1 both these years because of having a mix bag of good rounds and bad rounds, hes started the season badly which is underlined by three missed cuts and a best finish 24th and is ranked 148th in the fed ex rankings, without a win since 2006 so expect him to fall away.

Justin Leonard to has -5, past winner in 2002 even by having a final round 73 again, again t36 and t47 then missed 2005 then 2004 tied 39th and 2003 tied 47th,again inconsistancy in hes rounds on this course another leader that could fall away.

Avoid Tim Herron - he might be T4 at the moment but hes had some horrendous rounds here.

Jim Furyk - can shot low and be consistant which is underlined by two second places in 2005 and 2006 currently -3
and T15 worth a look once a new book is formed.

Re: Verizon Heritage

Love the game, but don't get much time to watch or practise unfortunately. Last big win was Harrington, have also found BIG 6/7/8 etc against the field a good risk.

This week I took Els/Cink/Furyk/Rose/Baddely/Johnson/O'Hair/Bryant @ 7/4.

No doubt " in running " may be more profitable but not an option for me.

GL to all.

Re: Verizon Heritage

If Furyk hadn't been so rank with the putter at Augusta he'd have been in front after round 3 - I know ifs mean next to nothing but given that the greens in the Verizon are nowhere near as mental as Augusta then if Jim gets a bit of relief on the one part of his game that doesnt work right now then he should go close.

That said, with Davis Love, Justin Leonard and Stewart Cink (8 wins here between them)all -4 or better, it looks very much a 'know your way around' course and those guys are gonna be very tricky to shift from the top as they wont be making many mistakes round here.

I'll give it 1 more round before jumping in.

Re: Verizon Heritage

3pts Weekley @ 1.58

Boo is the defending champ here and goes into the final round 3 clear of Kim and 5 clear+ of the rest. Kim looked very shaky yesterday, and being in the final group today will do him no favours, and I cant see him getting past Boo today, who knows this course inside out. If thats true then someone is gonna have to post a -7/-8 from off the pace to put big pressure on Boo, and hope the big man has a wobble.

Thats the big question, but he's playing fairly flawlessly at the moment, was a little unlucky with his dropped shot yesterday, and his drive is big enough to guarantee another good number of biirdie chances today.

He's a slightly different beast in golfing terms - read any interview and you'll find out why. As a result I think he might deal with the pressure of leading a little better than others.

Nothing to go mad on, but I think Boo wins this more than 2 outta 3 times from here.
