Nedbank Golf
It's Rose and Immelman on -16, Els on -11 and forget the rest, so pretty much a matchplay event between the top 2 who will tee off together for the final round.
Both have been playing very strongly - I can't really split them on their golf overall. Mentally too, both can have their 'moments'. I think there is money to be made though...here's the deal... Firstly, in terms of how they are handling the course, there is a fairly noticeable front 9/back 9 split. Rose front 9 this week: -2, -2, -1 Immelman front 9 this week: -6,-4,-3 Obviously then, the back nine is the reverse, where Rose is -2, -5, -4 and Imms is +1, -1, -2. Secondly, I think the mental differences in the players also fit this pattern nicely...Rose often struggles to forge ahead/sustain form at the top of the leaderboard, but often regroups after such a blip. His recent win on the Euro tour suggested as much where he lost a 4 shot lead on the final day, but regrouped to win a play off. Immelman I think could work in reverse - holding his form when there is a match to be won, but getting a little twitchy when that finishing line looms. Ultimately, I think Rose wins here, but I don't think it will be plain sailing, and he might well drop behind early, so instead of the straight win on Rose, I'll take Immelman for the front 9, and then look to switch onto Rose mid round, hopefully at a much nicer price. So Immelman is the choice, but be ready to switch at around tomorrow midday if you are following... 3pts Trevor Immelman @ 2.40 with Betfair And if Els beats them both then good luck to him! |
