Golf This Week(Skando Masters and Wyndham Champs)

Bit of a low key week as most of the top players have a week off, and so the fields for both events look wide open.

Some big name withdrawals from Wyndham...Choi and defending champ Davis Love the latest, leaves a less than stellar field. Lucas Glover is in great form but at favourite for this event doesn't really offer much interest bettingwise.

The field really does look wide open, and the prices fairly tight - a lot of the players who would usually go down as good outside prospects such as Senden, Pettersen, Green etc are all hovering around the 40s/50s mark which looks pretty solid, so I think I'll sit out the outright betting early on and just go for some 3balls.

Worth noting that the leader/joint leader after 54 holes has won here 8 years in a row. Something to remember for the final day.

Skando Masters: Another one I might wait on - Simon Dyson finished the US PGA like a train but has been gambled into 25.00 2nd favourite here so again, questionable betting prospect at that price. Did go well here last year tho. A few players I do like the look of such as Broadhurst and Slattery but I'd rather see how they get on during the 1st round before going any further. 3balls again.

Haha...fair play Bash. To be honest the Skando Masters leaderboard is so full of absolute no notes that I still cant be bothered getting stuck in...Kaymer and Nystrom are way too short in the betting so I might lay them but I'd prefer to wait to round 4 when its down to a few contenders and you can make money by opposing those who dont have experience of closing these things out. Maybe a wee Ilonen charge 2moro...if I get my sorry ass up early enough might scrape together a 2 ball bet or two.

US PGA at Wyndham is pitch and putt stuff again with leaders at -12 and 90% of the field under par...yawn. With everyone firing -4 or better and creating birdie chances at every second hole you might as well stick a pin in the leaderboard unless you've been watching enough to get a decent handle on the action. Some interesting names towards the top like Petterson, Marino and Hansen but need another round to know what to do with them

Re: Golf This Week(Skando Masters and Wyndham Champs)

Out 2nite and tomorrow morning so will stick a couple of bets on now in the Skando...Illonen did indeed go on a bit of a charge, as did Broadhurst, and they sit with Dougherty back at -4, 3 off the lead of Kaymer and Kingston...that pair don't convince me in terms of closing it out down the stretch, and Dougherty looks a bit short at the moment.

I'll side with Illonen and Broadhurst as the former has been threatening a win for a while now(altho Im not sure of his ability to close it out either) and is in front of home fans, and Broadhurst is experienced enough to hold himself together if he gets in the mix...would take him over any of the other leaders if its close down the stretch, just gotta get there first.

Illonen @ 13.5
Broadhurst @ 13

Might trade out on Illonen if he's in contention over the closing holes.

Re: Golf This Week(Skando Masters and Wyndham Champs)

Kaymer ahead again(2 with 3 to play) but every chance he'll struggle once ahead(and every chance Illonen will do likewise if he is let back into things.) Lay anyone who is heavily odds on as is always the case with these no notes.

PGA at Wyndham looks interesting - Overton with a 3 shot lead but a dangerous looking bunch behind him...his nerve will be tested today. Back in a bit with some bets.

Re: Golf This Week(Skando Masters and Wyndham Champs)

Kaymer looks like getting there with a little wobble.

For the Wyndham:

Not overly convinced by Overton...might back him later on but I reckon he could take few holes to settle.

Lets have one outsider and the Skando mix...Mayfair will be a good one to back if he's in the mix down the stretch as he can close these out...

Petterson @ 6.80
Hansen @ 8.20
Marino @ 42

ILLONEN WINS!!!!

As per usual with those yet to win, Kaymer bogies the last when the pressure is on, having traded as low as 1.08 with a few to play.

Will take Lucas Glover @ 7s as well as he has the ability to cut loose from the field and should be in the mix at the end at far shorter odds. That'll do for now till the players start reaching the turn.

Mmm Petterson hits the lead but there's too many in this at the moment...charge could come from anywhere. Gonna level my book off for a few £ loss and come back in a few holes to start again.

Re: Golf This Week(Skando Masters and Wyndham Champs)

Cheers Bash...been a v good few weeks on the golf(minus the 2 majors). Euro Tour events always seem a lot more predictable than the pitch and putt stuff from the US PGA...did a bit of trading whilst watching the US PGA but with rounds of -9 possible the number of potential winners is too high for my liking until the final 5 or 6 holes.

Anyway, Fed Ex cup playoffs soon which should offer up some good golf.
