Stanford St. Jude Championship (Us Tour)
Bets Before Thursday 12 noon
Course- TPC Southwind Hole discription below 1 4 434 A slight uphill dogleg to the left. Fairway bunkers on the right off the tee come into play on the tee shot. Watch out for the small, well-bunkered green. 2 4 401 Dogleg right. Fairway bunkers on the left off the tee. Small green with two bunkers requires a short-iron approach. 3 5 554 Almost straight away with a lake in the middle of the fairway that comes into play on the second shot. This hole will force the golfer to make a decision to either lay up or go for the green on the second shot. The green is deep and narrow and guarded by water on the right and bunkers on the left. 4 3 196 With water short left of the green, this hole is considered one of the most picturesque on the course. Players will hit a 5- or 6-iron depending on the wind. 5 4 485 A slight dogleg to the right off the tee with a large tree on the right side of the fairway that comes into play. The left side of the fairway is lined by spectator mounds. 6 4 445 Slight dogleg to the left with large spectator mounds on the left side of the fairway and fairway bunkers to the right. A long drive will require a middle-iron approach shot to a well- bunkered green. 7 4 482 Straight away with a large fairway bunker on the left. Requires a long tee shot to a large green that is heavily bunkered and set among the spectator mounds. 8 3 178 Requires a short iron off the tee to a wide but narrow green with two large bunkers guarding the left side. To the right of the green is slope that slants sharply onto the green. 9 4 457 A long dogleg to the right, slightly downhill with the second shot over a lake that is front of the green. The player needs a lot of length to get in position for the approach to the green. Ideal drive is past the large tree on the right of the fairway to ensure an open shot to the green. 10 4 465 A slight dogleg to the left with water possibly coming into play off the tee for a long hitter. Some players may opt to go with a 3-wood off the tee instead of a driver. The second shot is over water to a well-bunkered green accented by trees short of the green. 11 3 162 A smaller version of the famous 17th at the Tournament Players Club Sawgrass, but with its own uniqueness. This hole requires a short iron over water to an island green with a small pot bunker that guards the front edge of the green. 12 4 406 A short dogleg to the right with water that extends down the entire right side. Fairway bunkers on the left side of the hole come into play off the tee. A good driving hole. 13 4 472 A good driving hole. The key position on the left side gives the player the best approach to the green, which is well-guarded by four bunkers. 14 3 239 Elevated tee and a full carry over water to a severely undulated green. A very difficult par 3, set among a natural amphitheater. 15 4 395 With a beautiful tree-lined fairway, this is a fairly short par 4 with a slight dogleg to the left. The second shot is over a creek to a well-bunkered green. Emphasis should be on placement of the tee shot. 16 5 530 An uphill par 5 that is reachable in two. The green is small and well guarded with bunkers. Could be the hole that decides the championship because a birdie (or better) is likely. 17 4 490 A long downhill hole that requires a lot of length off the tee to set up the second shot over a creek. The long and narrow green is protected by six bunkers. 18 4 453 An excellent finishing hole that places a great demand off the tee. This dogleg left has water that comes into play on the first two shots, as well as fairway bunkers on the right. Spectator mounds surround the medium-sized green. Tiger Woods has not entered here. Phil Mickleson is coming back from a wrist injury, after withdrawing last week. |

3 balls
Sean 0'Hair,11th in the Memorial and tied 5th last week,I might be mad but hes in with Harrington and Goosen and I think you can take both these players on at the mo.7/4 you can get on O'Hair.A little chancy Vijay Singh @10/11 has got to beat J.Leonard who does have the odd good tourney, but hes 142nd on the tour rankings.8 miss cuts and a best placed 15th tells you he really should go and see the swing doctor.Troy Matterson, Singhs other opponent did finish 3rd in the AT and T Classic last time out otherwise 6 miss cuts 1 top ten and ranked 65th I doubt he can match Singh at the moment, has xmas come early it might well have as ive got Singh to cake walk this one. Phil Mickleson 10/11 has a couple of low ranked players to beat J.Maggert the 2006 winner, hes only win last season were he had 12 missed cuts and only 2 top 10s tells me he flucked it he even missed the cut in 2005.Hes form at the moment sucks no top 10's and a best placed 12th in the Colonial.Heath Solcum,Micklesons other opponent did have a touch of early season form but its tailing off now 22-24-MC-46 last 4 tourneys missed the cut last year and without a win for two years says to me Mickleson will put these two away no problem. Re: Stanford St. Jude Championship (Us Tour)
it seems as if a lot of the pundits are after freddie jacobsen and i must say he does seem a good option, recently been playing well and also has a strong record round the course. i'm trying to get on loren roberts-he doesn't have a great record there, but he is a local resident and he won on the seniors tour last week, so he should be able to transfer some of that form to here. i also am trying to get on pablo martin-this is the guy who won as an amateur in portugal? or spain earlier on this year and has been doing very well on the us college circuit. well he has turned pro, and qualified for the us open on monday, so is also playing well. with a lot of the big names concentrating on the us open, he could have a good debut.
i am also looking at will mackenzie, he seems to have been playing well recently without getting too many breaks, again at 200 odd on the fair, i'm going to try and trade in-running. other players are herron and toms with the course form, but recently not totally convincing, but with a lot of players here on us open warm-up, they could easily figure, good luck all! |

Re: Stanford St. Jude Championship (Us Tour)
Thanks to all who pointed out Jacobsen. He wins his 3 ball and is leading the tournament overall on -3. Allenby hada topsy turvey round and finished 3 shots behind the leader on -3.
Despite posting 3 double bogeys in his round Stiles amazingly lies on level par, just 3 off the lead. Toms is well in contention at level par as well. Goosen looks dangerous on -2. He had a typical Goosen round posting 16 pars and 2 birdies, steady as a rock. Mention of the day must go to big John Daly. He had a triple bogey 7 at the first hole and I was expecting him to implode in a fit of rage and shoot 80 something. But he shot 5 birdies in a row after that and ended up shooting a level par 70. Well done that man! |
