You wouldnt touch Goosen on his performance in the BMW last week,he played a shocker.What about BMW winner Hansen?

Im going way down this list here,Ignacio Garrido flew out the traps in this event last year 66-67-only to finish 70-74 tied 56th in 2005 he finished t36 again hitting 66 in his first round finshed 71-70-69.form isnt great this year,30th in the BMW last week,so im taking a big chance in a tourney were no player is flying form wise.

Another Cracking bet is bet365 1st round leader market
Garrido is 100's ew at 1-2-3-4-5 for a player thats hit 66 and 67 the last two first rounds in this event thats a cracking bet.

Despite the impression given by some of the advertising the event is not being played on the actual course that the Ryder Cup will play. It's being played on the much shorter Roman Road course, as it was last year, which is only a par 69.

So, low scores are very much the order of the day and unless the weather is particularly bad it is not really a course for the 'grinders'.

In the RFO they go for bradley dredge, simon khan & robert karlsson(defending champ.).

I quite like simon khan(for the same reasons they do) namely he has won this before, albeit on the the other course, he has been consistent-ish recently and he can shoot low scores. Not sure whether I like him enough for an e/w bet, but he is one for the spread markets.

Not too keen on dredge or karlsson at those prices.

I like that garrido 1st round leader bet though and will have a little of that.

Raphael Jacquelin @20/1 is gonna be my main pick this week. He's had an unbelievable consistent season on the European tour. Fair enough he had a bad weekend last week but before that he came 7th 7th 1st 6th and 2nd in his previous 5 tournaments. He came 17th here 2 years ago and in this not too strong field i reckon he can improve.

Phillip Archer @66/1: Hasn't been in great form this year but he did manage 2nd in Andalucia(just behind Westwood) a few weeks back and he also played very well here last year finishing in 5th(he shot a first round 60). Needs to improve a bit but if he does 66's could be big.

Marcel Siem @150/1. Small stakes on Siem who is having a stinker of a year but has the ability and likes it around here.

Shall also take Archer @13/8 to win his 1st round 3 ball against Canizarez and Ilonen.

sorry guys, i couldn't post for some reason last night, so hopefully won't be after eventing but here are my thoughts. i didn't have any strong preferences, i took dredge simply as he was in a play-off a couple of weeks ago, and being a local boy-he should go close, and at some point trade at less than 20s. i've also taken oliver fisher, since i saw him putt at the weekend and he looked good. also high up on the gir stats, the field isnt strong, so he can run close.
i couldn't find anywhere for the birdie conversion stats on the euro tour, i want to see who makes the most birdies, since it is a par 69. so as i couldn't find that, i've gone for the players who are high up on the putts per gir, and taken little interest bets, so i can then lay off later on, so falling in to that category are warren ( 85) fichardt (420) sullivan (640), siem ( 170) ormsby (420), all on the betfair when i got them, so hopefully they might run close. no strong fancies this week...

Jacquelin and Archer both shots 68's to leave them well in contention, just 3 off the lead. Siem recovered well from a bad start and shot a level par 69.

Unfortunately Archer lost his 3 ball at the death with two late bogeys meaning Ilonen wins by one.
