Tiger just sunk for birdie and belted a driver down the 16th fairway...wobble over.

Well I never even bothered to check on the updates last night as I was convinced it was sunk after Friday..

Without wanting to pain myself too much, Friday morning I did actually go onto Betfair 'Tigers Major wins' market and actually did a laying exercise on Tiger..I could have potentially laid him off for a few hundred quid guaranteed profit either way...

I didnt...

Alas, as Peter Ridsdale said in the aftermath of the Leeds collapse, I "chased the dream..."

You gotta take the rough with the smooth in this game and the bet was an experience if nothing else...

Hmmm..Anyone got the odds for Tiger not to win a Major in 2008..

Tiger Woods not to win a Major in 2008 - 5/2 (Skybet)

Anyone got an opinion on this?

Dabbled in it last year only to suffer the heartache of the USPGA..

Would be tempted this year, but the US Masters always worries me, and apparently Tiger's perfect course is the venue for next year's US Open, so not as convinced this year...

Hmmm...It's a difficult thing to price up, but quite a few of those that you would look to to give him trouble are not having the best seasons. Ernie has been very dodgy at the top of leaderboards recently, Goosen nowhere, Singh erratic, Furyk always struggles v Tiger in a head to head - Mickelson is one of the few that has had a good season IMO.

Having said that, all that does is explain the longer price.

Sod the season long punt - keep yer cash and chuck it on my golf system for a better return as I'm pretty sure I've unlocked the key to picking the winners in this god forsaken game

The problem with the 'no major' bet is that Tiger does focus his season around the majors, and I don't think anyone prepares as well as that guy.
True he has now got a baby, but it was born in the middle of last year and I as was shown in the USPGA it didn't affect him then so why should it this year.

On any given week there are many golfers who can challenge for the honours, even at The Masters, players like Mike Weir have won, and then not really kicked on, but what sets Tiger apart is his consistency, its not that he just makes the cut, he is up there challenging almost every time he plays.

Not sure what price i would want in order to back 'no major', think its one of those i would leave alone, as I want to see him win plenty more.

Hadn't seen this before. I can't think anything other than that's a horrible bet. Who would have believed that any golfer would one day be 8/1 for the grand slam? Well that day has arrived, and with it a whole new ball game in golf, I think you'd have to be looking for something similar to tempt me to back against him winning one. No idea what the true odds are, but for me to give money, it's got to be 3x this price.

The bet was generally available at 4/1 just before the off, although I think Betfair were trading up to 6's..
