Re: Ten $10k Freerolls in May 2005 @ Bet 365

If you're short stacked and you pick up QQ, get all your chips in before the flop - that's when you are most likely to be ahead.
Now I understand that if in a tournament, the blinds are still small, you wanna generate some action and are scared that an all in will just pick up the small blinds and not get you anywhere.
This is indeed possible but it's a risk you take.
If you don't have that many chips it's quite possible a large stack with a half decent hand will call you anyway.
There's also a good chance some numpty will get a "pretty" hand like AQ suited and not be able to bin it and call you. Which is of course fine, ok there's still a reasonable chance he's gonna outdraw you but you got your chips in way ahead which is what counts.
If you only raise a little pre-flop, it's quite likley there could be many other callers and the more callers there are the less chance you have of winning the pot.

If blinds are quite big in relation to your stack obviously it's all in anyway.

You have to be very wary of flops like 545, if you've just called or raised a little and there are quite a few people in, there's a fair chance someone has a 5.....or a drawing hand like 67. Someone sticking all their chips in on this flop...you gotta ask why....are they short stacked and trying to bluff it ?
Have they a hand like JJ perhaps ? Would someone with a 5 not check that flop ? It depends on their style of course. You have to try and work out what they are doing.

The problem was I was stuck on going all in. When the guy went all in on a 5 4 5 flop I should've figure him for 2 pair at least and ditched the ladies. I was short stacked at the time and in need of an all in.
You have 2 pair as well remember, queens and fives. It's someone with a 5 you have to worry about. With a few people in the pot there's alot of ways for QQ to be beaten with a flop like 545.....someone with a 5, flush draw obviously if it is there, straight draw - someone with 67 for instance. More people in the pot, more likley someone has one of these. That's why when short stacked if you pick up QQ you get the chips in pre-flop. If people call you with hands like 56 well so be it...you want those calls as they are massive behind. Getting your chips in ahead is the key thing to do.

Cheers for that Alien.

Thats what I'm finding when I play in the tournaments and on the pay tables. It's probably better just to call all in and take the chance that everybody will fold a majority of the time for that one person calling.

I had a classic the other day. Some guy was going all in a lot and then showing his cards (which I hate because 9/10 times these guys get busted) to say he was bluffing. The very next hand after he did this I had something like 77 and he went all in again. I though "fcuk it" and called him. He had AA

Re: Ten $10k Freerolls in May 2005 @ Bet 365

Seems there will be more players on this one tonight. I'll be damned if I sit there for hours just to finish out of the money again.

I will be playing ultra aggressive and loose to begin with tonight. If I quadruple up I'll sit back and play some more sensible cards then.

Determined for a place in the money or an early exit.

All in with A6 suited in early position. One caller A2 suited. I double up first hand from 1,000 to 2,030.

I'm going to double or bust pretty quick.

I was in the top 50 for a bit but decided to push my luck even further and got knocked out on two perfectly fair beats.

Fantastic effort Crowie. I missed the last 5 minutes though as my MSN was going mad.

Re: Ten $10k Freerolls in May 2005 @ Bet 365

53rd out of 4044

Close to the cash.

Had a very poor run of cards, was at about 64k and 12th at one point but that got whittled down to about 37k. On BB (8K), one lad on 1600 goes all in, SB raised for 12k, I went all in with remaining 29k, SB called. He turns KK, I had AKs. Nothing comes for me, pair of 8's hit the board, lad on 1600 wins his pot with trip 8's and I go out to K's and 8's from SB.

I was out 80th last night mate and it stings after all those hours. Well played though mate. I'm not looking forward to playing against you in the first TDP poker tourney.

I can't see anything wrong with your last play Crowie. The blinds were going to kill you very quickly and AK (in that situation is a decent starting hand). Many people would have tried to limp in to the final 50 in order to get the minimum prize of $10. You seemed to take the attitude that you might as well go for it and try and get a real prize which is, for what it is worth, a course of action I agree with.

I saw this thread on PL and meant to sign up with Bet365 poker. These free rolls are to good to be missing out on. Is there any sign up offers at the moment.

A code would be nice if needed
