Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

Do they have prize money for winning tournament?

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

Well i cant believe that. Out in 6th. Had AK, on the flop comes 7,A,K. Next 2 cards are 2,4. The other person keeps raising me so i follow on, they go all in - again i follow and they pull out AA! Unbelievable!!

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

What happened pre-flop in this hand kiko ? And how did the betting go generally ? Was the flop checked or bet etc ?

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

Starting hand was AK, so i figured i would raise it before flop. I got it called, then on the flop comes a 7,A,K so again i raise and have it called again. Next 2 are 2,4 and i called after each. It ends up in other guy going all in, so i go all in realising theres a chance he has a straight but then why would he have originally called after my raise pre flop with a 3,5. Anyways out comes for him AA.

Thats how it went down!! Been doing real good in these large tournaments. Consistently getting down to the final 20 out of 700 or so at least!

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

Need to get the order sussed. Were you second to play, ie in last position.
This guy has called the big blind, you raised it...he then called.
Does he then bet the flop and you raise it ? Who was first to play basically ?

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

I was 1st. I raised pre flop as had a decent hand and he called. So yeah it was me that was first. We should organise a little tournament between few of the guys in here. Be some good banter!

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

OK kiko it's just you are saying you are raising when you actually mean betting hence doesn't make it very clear how the betting it going.
I'l give you a run down of my thoughts in a while, I'm actually playing some poker myself atm

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

OK if anything this shows you the advantage and importance of position in hold 'em. Also after your initial raise....it can often be quite a nice idea just to smooth call with a hand like AA. If you re-raise you alert people to the fact you must have a very strong hand. And people are more wary.
As it turned out you had no idea he had AA, had he re-raised you, perhaps you would have been more wary.

Sometimes flops come that you are gonna put your chips in regardless really. I mean you are raising with AK there.....and the flop comes AK7 I mean what else do you want ? AAK ? You're gonna stick you chips in on that.
After your inital bet he just called you. This is often a danger sign !! I'd probably be more wary of just a call than a raise here !

When he's calling you gotta try and put him on a hand. What is he calling with/for ? OK the fact there was no re-raise had swung your attention away from a hand like KK or AA. He could have made a set with 77 possibly.
Was there a flush draw out ? He could be drawing to a flush. He could also be playing a rag ace or ace with worse kicker like AJ , A3 etc.

There's alot of things you gotta take into consideration if it's a tournament, are you gonna end up committing your whole stack to this hand ? Is your opponent tight/loose ? Does he bluff alot ?

It's a very hard flop to get away from and I think you just gotta consider yourself a bit unlucky. I mean had flop bean AQ7 you may have been a little more wary.

Also - get used to shit like that happening. It happens all the time, thing is you gotta make sure it doesn't effect your play and go throwing good chips/money after bad ones on tilt.

Re: Pot Rocking Beats!

Stanjames
Bet 365
PaddyPower
Willhill
Poker Poker

All dont require you to deposit any funds, and most of them have daily frerolls where you dont need any ranked hands. Some of em aint much though, like £200 but its better than nothing. They have other ones where you have to play raked hands for £1000's. Willhill as 3 £1000 every weekend too. Hmm not sure if you have to deposit in Willhill actually as i signed up there ages ago. I signed up to all the others about 3 days ago for nothing.

Not in the Coral freeroll myself, no raked hands and i dont think ill be around.
