Re: Bragging Rights

Apparently Alien said he will if he wins the world Championships

Mind you - the thread is called "bragging rights" - so somebody should be bragging at least - else we should close it down...Unfortunately it aint gonna be me..

Though I have come up with an infallible system for when playing drunk. First loose 100 bucks on Laddies. Then go to bet365 and loose another 100 (again playing $.5/$1). Tell yerself that you're just unlucky (even though the next day you see you were answering big raises with k 7 o ...) and double the blinds - play $1/$2 for another $100 bucks....be prepared to batter fcuk out of your thankfully un-plasma and knuckle resistant (at least from other drunken sessions) monitor.

Win a $285 all in pot.... Calm yerself. Drop back down to .5/$1. Win a $145 All in pot. Pass out leaving the pc to eject you from the table....

Quality - though I will be extremely upset if I do it again this week. It's the time difference I blame....

Re: Bragging Rights

I play literally any game, any format. But I'm not going to go into what stakes I play.

Although I will say this - I wouldn't come on here bragging that I was the master of all poker after winning a $1 PL Holdem MTT.

Re: Bragging Rights

At what point did I say I was the master of all poker? It was only a $1 Tournie your right but not a bad return!

I said I was the master when I won the league, then Alien heads up and then Gett1n heads up!

I like Bragging

Re: Bragging Rights

Don't think I actually played the hand particularly well, as I'm sure will be pointed out, but since my poker playing has been indifferent for the last wee while(and since its been a while since there's been a post on this thread) I'll stick it up anyway.

To set the scene, I'd been watching the table($25 max buy in) for about 5 minutes, and FatCBlunt420 was being horribly reckless, plunging all in without too much, and getting lucky once or twice.

So I get a seat, and this was the first hand

#Game No : 2865502878
***** Hand History for Game 2865502878 *****
$25 NL Texas Hold'em - Wednesday, October 12, 12:31:43 EDT 2005
Table Table 64792 (6 max) (No DP) (Real Money)
Seat 2 is the button
Total number of players : 6
Seat 1: chinch_11 ( $14.15 )
Seat 2: trishetrish ( $9.40 )
Seat 3: WesCoasRider ( $0 )
Seat 4: FatCBlunt420 ( $8.25 )
Seat 6: itsurmny ( $24.75 )
Seat 5: Beanie1984 ( $25 )
FatCBlunt420 posts small blind [$0.10].
WesCoasRider has left the table.
Beanie1984 posts big blind [$0.25].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Beanie1984 [ 4c 4s ]

I played my big pocket pairs horribly yesterday, letting too many smaller hands see the flop for free...and was thinking I would atleast stick in a $0.50 raise.

itsurmny raises [$0.50].
chinch_11 folds.
trishetrish folds.
FatCBlunt420 raises [$0.65].

Was in two minds whether to raise again or not, but thinking that with a raise and re raise I was prob up against a decent hand or two, I decided to call and look to hit trips.

Beanie1984 calls [$0.50].
itsurmny calls [$0.25].
** Dealing Flop ** [ 4h, Th, Js ]

Hooray!

FatCBlunt420 bets [$0.25].

That bet was neither here nor there...but I decided I'd slowplay it and just call(Is that a mistake? Is a raise better to get rid of hands drawing to the straight or flush? I was a bit caught up in the moment of hitting trips(its been a while) so my immediate reaction was a flat call.)

Beanie1984 calls [$0.25].
itsurmny raises [$6].
FatCBlunt420 is all-In [$7.25]

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...now there's a thinker.

At this point, with my limited abilities or reading hands I had them both down for a jack. Perhaps 10 A.

Beanie1984 is all-In [$24]

My thought was that itsurmy might have 2 pair, in which case I would expect a call, or just a pair of jacks, in which case I'd expect him to fold and I would be up against Blunt with a nice extra $6 to the winner.

itsurmny is all-In [$19]
** Dealing Turn ** [ As ]
** Dealing River ** [ 7s ]

itsurmny shows [ Jc, 9h ] a pair of jacks.
FatCBlunt420 shows [ Qs, Qc ] a pair of queens.
Beanie1984 shows [ 4c, 4s ] three of a kind, fours.
Beanie1984 wins $0.25 from side pot #2 with three of a kind, fours.
Beanie1984 wins $32.20 from side pot #1 with three of a kind, fours.
Beanie1984 wins $23.55 from the main pot with three of a kind, fours.

As it was, it was an overpair and a top pair.

I did a wee jump and toddled off to count my winnings

Admittedly, there was a decent chance that one of them had hit trips too, but with 10s or jacks I was thinking they would have made a bit more of an effort pre flop.

If they were drawing to a flush or a straight, and hit, then fair doos, a gutsy call, and I would have had to have a months break or so.

But who cares

I don't think my thinking or play in that hand was too impressive, but as it is at these low money tables it often doesn't have to be.

But feel free to post up my mistakes and some tips, as if I can learn from a hand and win $29(big stakes for me ) from it then all the better.

Re: Bragging Rights

I cant see much wrong with your play here, like you I would of flat called the bet on the flop and then when it reached the turn I would of started to bet a lot stronger as im sure you would of.

Someone might pick any whole they can find but nice one mate

Happens a lot at these lower levels where you have to put players on different hands and so make these calls, I mentioned on another thread how I was first to act and I picked up AA, I shouldnt really divulge how I play but im not assed. At these lower levels If I pick up AA or KK im all in straight away, straight from the off and around 40% of the time theres a caller. Ive seen some people call with trash but I had the strangest one last time where they called with 33 :loon 33 ffs, at best he was a very slight favourite or completely dominated. Never the less I doubled my buy in with that. Get a lot of AQ AK AJ callers who cant put such a pretty hand down.

AA can be a bastard but this is how ive found it to be most profitable.

Ermmm anyway nice going

Re: Bragging Rights

Oh and I dont think I would raise pre flop with 44, just something I dont do with Pocket pairs below 10's. If you get two callers then its almost certain you need to hit your trips and with one caller it can be a bit of bastard guessing if he's hit one of the three cards and besides he could have 55 or higher.

Someone might pick any whole they can find

Re: Bragging Rights

Cheers chris...I had big problems with KK and AA yesterday - think I lost 3 times with them simply by attempting to draw people into a big pot and getting stung by trips or 2 pair.

I reckon you're probably right too - an immediate all in might be the best way to go in these games, particularly since at such levels like you say people are often unable to put down some biggish hands.

FatBlunt really did what I was doing yesterday...not enough pre-flop with his QQ. He was wanting a caller like J 9 with a J on the flop, but didn't do enough to shift me out, and as often happens it was a case of win a small pot(with a big pre-flop raise) or run the risk of losing a big one.

That was his error, and itsurmny's was the final call...he surely had to assume that with two big all ins he was at best behind to trips or 2 pair, and at worst being outkicked by another pair of jacks.

As for any of my mistakes...my hand was big enough for it not to matter

Re: Bragging Rights

I love doing these and I think im more enthusiastic about poker than I should be on here.

Anyway since ive moved up a level to 0.25/0.50c cash games ive become used to these big pots but this is the biggest pot ive ever won and I apologise for being so happy about it

Anyway im holding QQ:

> kalleknekt posted small blind ($0.25)
> baconcrook posted big blind ($0.50)
> Game # 554,382,431 starting.
> Dealing Hole Cards
> chrisgoatian raised for $2.50
> edogg1 folded
> User08 called for $2.50
> onderchild folded
> kalleknekt called for $2.25
> baconcrook called for $2

At this point im a bit annoyed I have so many callers with my QQ

> Dealing the Flop(6h2sQh)

> kalleknekt, you have 10 seconds to respond
> kalleknekt, you have 5 seconds to respond
> kalleknekt checked
> baconcrook checked
> chrisgoatian bet for $0.50
> User08 raised for $1
> kalleknekt folded
> baconcrook called for $1
> chrisgoatian called for $0.50
> Dealing the turn(2d)
> baconcrook checked
> chrisgoatian checked
> User08 bet for $4
> baconcrook called for $4
> chrisgoatian raised for $8
> User08 folded
> baconcrook called for $4
> Dealing the river(5h)
> baconcrook went all-in for $46.60
> chrisgoatian called for $46.60
> baconcrook shows a Flush, Hearts
(AhQh9h6h5h)
> chrisgoatian wins $123.20 with a Full House, Queens full of Deuces
> kalleknekt left the table
> baconcrook cannot enter this game because he/she is out of money
> edogg1 posted small blind ($0.25)
> User08 posted big blind ($0.50)
> Game # 554,384,240 starting.
> Dealing Hole Cards
chrisgoatian> thanks
> onderchild folded
> baconcrook brought $50 to the table
> chrisgoatian folded
> edogg1 called for $0.25
chrisgoatian> you like that baby

Sorry

Re: Bragging Rights

Ok i'll brag a bit.

Won about £50 last night in a live game down at the pub. Players came and went but me and my mate just kept winning pot after pot. Would love to give you the particulars but I spent majority of my winnings on sweet, sweet alcohol and can't remember much.

I'm looking on it as a good free night out!

Re: Bragging Rights

Nah mate neither of those (how dare you suggest I was outplayed only jokin)

I was 10th from 10 when the final table began so 5th was a bit of a result really. I doubled up once with AQ and survived basically, never had many chips compared to others. I went out when i had 4 bigblinds left and went all in with J9s and got called by AK.

It was so sweet seein people getting knocked out, I love that on a final table
