2007 - Live poker tournaments

I'm planning to go travelling next year (although undecided exactly when, but not before May), and I plan to kick it off with a big ($1-$2k) buy in poker tournament. This will

(a) enable me to blow some cash before living on a shoestring for months
(b) might enable me not to live on a shoestring for months

Now, I don't really want to go to Vegas, because I think it's too tacky, so what I'm looking for is something in Europe/Australia/Asia but no idea where I should be looking.

So, who knows where theres info about live tournies taking place in the 2nd half of next year.

Hmm theres no famous events I can recall that arent MASSIVE buy ins like 10k. Although I wouldnt be at all if they had smaller events around the main events as it were.

Theres 2 I can suggest looking into. Maybe you can try qualifying for them online and if you get in go or something. Not sure but but maybe try and find some info on

The Grand Prix De Paris (WPT related) think its done in the summer

Aussie Millions but I think thats an early in the year thing

Ok, I'll take a look. I thought EPT events aren't huge buy ins, but not totally sure.

The Barcelona event on the EPT is late in the year I think but they are still quite steep. 5000 Euros I think which is probably about £3k but im not up on the conversion rates!

Euro X 8 / 10 should give aprox £££

so 3000€ X 8 = 24000 / 10 = 2400£

Then your safe for sure.. Couse actually with todays rate its around 2100£


But then you have some extra for fun.
