Re: Ideas for Poker Forum

What about a weekly winners thread? Winner each week (after proof is posted) gets a free "komp chip set".. I know he has some as he has had a special chip set commisioned with his face (new teeth on display) on the chips.

Nah I'm talking pish just for a change Will see if I can come up with any ideas later, for now I must work

Re: Ideas for Poker Forum

I'd be up for a weekly game for tdp'ers.

Will this be in a league format??

I think there is a group (albeit small!) who'd like a weekly challenge game.

Just as mentioned before what venue?

Re: Ideas for Poker Forum

I'd be interested in a league, as would quite a few others and I'm sure it would bring everyone together more and encourage more posting. Interesting this forum seems to have more lurkers than any other sub forum outside the usual football type forums, and a TDP sponsored league would be a way of drawing a few out.

Certainly another suggestion would be to promote games such as high value freerolls and value-added paid tourneys that crop up on an almost daily basis around the net. We could then get a few of us to enter, and get the banter typed up on what has happened in the game. Again – promotes more activity within the forum and posting.

Kristobal and Rejmak are good tournament players and members like that need to be encouraged to keep getting involved.

Strategy is also a key aspect and members like Scottie are incredibly important in keeping hold of – due to their knowledge and posting. There are a few more knowledgeable poker players on this forum, but they seem to be almost shy in posting nowadays..
.

There is potential here, but it’s getting it unearthed!

Re: Ideas for Poker Forum

Bit off the subject here but I agree a league would be good. Only thing that concerns me which I mention every time the idea pops up, is, last time we had a league I know the trouble DD went to, reminder posts, PM after PM, and even at that pretty much every week we struggled to have enough to open the table. This was all after a test poll in which 39 (I think) members said they would play.

Anyway, improving the forum hmmm, personally I would get rid of a large amount of the poker forums we have in here, keep it basic and easy on the eye, 3 or 4 max. The majority of the forums are probably never looked at seriously as the posts would suggest. Over the past couple of years or so since I joined I would say TDP has pretty much lost any credibility in the eyes of the lurkers, and probably most of the members, purely due to a great amount of squabbling among members/management etc etc. With the forum now looking stable/good I think we should be looking to earn some credibility by being adults for a start, and definitely never "doing dirty washing" in full view of potential members. I think someone should have the abilty (balls?) to delete any such posts/threads as soon as they start to happen, and maybe even giving the guilty party(ies) a wee cooling off ban. Probably strayed a bit off topic again but just my views.

Re: Ideas for Poker Forum

Would anyone have any objections of paying for the whole league upfront? Say start with like 4 games of $5 each, paid either to the site or to escrow and then if guys don't show then it's their problem. Don't wanna sound military mind.

If it's free then just crack on

Lost the plot a bit here guys. I meant physically changing forums on the site. Not whether we should be running leagues.

Are you happy with all the sections, do you want to change any, add any, delete any?

Direct Debit lol

Be good to get all the original Paradise lot together for at least one more. I'm guessing there was a league on Titan before that? Get those guys as well

looks like we might need another forum for this Dan. Be easier if you chose Dan and if anyone want's to advise you they can. Tell me your plans here. I would still suggest we need forums for each strategy and that cash should also include shorthanded strategy. the other games could become one and that would leave it quite tidy. The articles forum should become somethign along the lines of what kris mentioned. Also i am looking at getting this installed to give us more options for things-

vB Integration:
This is not just a "bridge". vBulletin and Drupal share the same user
base, login, sessions, user groups, permissions and custom profile
fields, style and theme, without any code changes to vBulletin.
You have the option to use Drupal's comment system, or use vBulletin
for comments, and announcing new content automatically (with links,
teasers, of full content). You can allow user groups to have their own
blogs, publish stories, collaborate on handbooks and manuals, and
contribnute content, with various levels of permissions and revision
control. No special accounts need to be created, all done by usergroups
and roles.
basically it will run in the background but it will give us all better user profiles etc and thus we can expand on them (tipping stats etc)
