Reports suggest the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event will be delayed until November.

The USA Today website is carrying a story that the World Series of Poker Main Event final table will be delayed until November to fit in with ESPN's plans for televising the tournament.
It means that the tournament will begin, as scheduled, on 3 July, and play down to nine players on 14 July, before reconvening for the final table on 9 November.
This allows ESPN to televise the entire tournament before braodcasting the denounement.

Funnily enough I was just looking at WSOP 2008 on wikipedia and it says the same thing. It's not great, but even worse, the will play from 9 to 2 on 9 November, and heads up on the 10th.

The whole idea is crazy if you get to the final table of the WSOP it's because you are in "the zone". To then have to wait till November to then play that final table is mental. The whole dynamic of the table will have changed, christ someone might even have died by then.

Thats a frickin joke, I hope it doesnt happen. I love following that tourny and itd suck to wait! Plus I agree with DD it just changes the momentum a bit, a day or twos rest before the FT fine but not that. FUCK ESPN

This point is a good one on the plus side but not a big enough plus to me.

Tom Schneider, who also sits on the WSOP PAC and won the WSOP Player of the Year title last year, was all for the change.

Hes missing the point I think, who really cares who comes 4th is what I would say. Can anyone remember who came 4th in the football premier league in 1989, no, cos no one really cares that much. Who the hell wants 4 months of 'build up' on the players anyway!
